RIP to the American producer Norman Whitfield who died this week of diabetes related illness. :(

Whitfield was responsible along with others for creating the Motown sound. He was heavily linked with one of my favourite bands of all time, Rose Royce and co-wrote and produced I heard it through the Grapevine.

Thanks for helping make some of my favourite music ever xx

I put a thread up on here yesterday with an obit and some links to some of the songs he wrote or produced, you know, just simple classics like I heard it through the grapevine, Papa was a rolling stone and the greatest protest song of all time, War and for some reason it got deleted.

I don't know why.... but yes you are right, all fabulous songs.

i have plenty of his tunes in my soul/funk/disco section of my vinyl :)
