I'm on Tiscali Broadband connected via modem to phone line. Can I fall prey to this? I understood that Broadband was secure but a little worried.

I recently fell pray to a rogue dialler on wanadoo, but to be fair we were having some problems with the anti virus software.
We've barred all 09... calls from our line to be on the safe side.

You can only fall victim to a rogue dialler if you leave the old 'dial up' modem connected to the computer and the phoneline, as well as the broadband modem.

The brodband modem communicates with the computer (and the phone system) in a different way to the dial up modem.

If you're concerned simply disconnect the old dial up modem from the computer and unplug the cable that leads from the dial up modem to the phone socket.

Many Thanks but I'm sorry to sound stupid as I'm new to this game. I've never had a computer before so, never had dial up just Broadband. Am I safe or do I have to bar calls or disconnect anyhing?

There is no way that you can fall prey to rogue diallers if you only use broadband. It is always on and doesn't affect your voice telephone service, because it doesn't make calls.
