Marksteeler 20-09-2008, 06:02 well still no news from hospital, was expecting a call in the early hours but hasnt arrived yet, Think baby Alfie is to comfortable still, he was thrashing around alot last night though, he even had little hiccups when midwife was listening to him last night. espadrille 20-09-2008, 06:05 So what stage is she at then? Marksteeler 20-09-2008, 06:10 well im not to sure the midwife said that the cervaix had been broken whatever that means, she also said last night that she thought we had come in maybe 1 or 2 hours to early, but wanted to keep her in because of how quick our daughter was, our daughter was born within 4 hours of her going into hospital last time. shes been having contractions last night and during the night but there irregular espadrille 20-09-2008, 06:13 Well they usually explain how many centimetres dilated she is and then that is how you know how soon it will happen. Good Luck and chill... DUFFEMS 20-09-2008, 07:48 Be nice if the baby's born today as it's my 60th. I don't know anyone who shares the same birthday. puddinburner 20-09-2008, 07:54 Any news yet???? I have a pack of cigars ready! never touch myself but it's tradition...lol Marksteeler 20-09-2008, 11:26 She was 3cms dilated last night and 5cm this morning, but they have now sent her home, although still have contractions there to irregular. its just funny how things change last night they wanted her to stay in because she was dilated now they want her home. I was hoping they would keep her in but i guess they no best. anniec 20-09-2008, 11:45 they sent her home at 5cm? omg thats mental! Well if she's 5cm at the moment I would anticipate the they baby will be here today at some point. Good luck and come on Alfie (don't forget the pics) Marksteeler 20-09-2008, 11:51 she had been 5cm for nearly 6 hours so i think thats why they sent her home, but last night they didnt want her to go home because our last daughter was real quick like within 4 hours of 1st contractions and she had shoulder distortion, so thats why they said she had to stay in last night in case it came on quick like last time, lyndix 20-09-2008, 12:22 Can`t believe they sent her home at 5 cm`s:o Get her doing plenty of walking around, gravity will hurry things along:thumbsup: Marksteeler 20-09-2008, 12:33 she did last night at hospital she kept walking up and down the stairs n has taken kids to park now with her mum whatkatydid 20-09-2008, 12:33 She'll be needing a nice lower back rub. I'm very excited. Hope it doesn't go on too long. Marksteeler 20-09-2008, 12:39 nor do we, were ready and prepared although it feels strange as we thought he was going to be early our last 2 were 12 days and 7 days late whatkatydid 20-09-2008, 13:08 My daughter took about 38 hours and was 8 days late. I was very tired afterwards but after a sleep I was revenous - strongly recommend emergency rations in the suitcase. I had to survive on a piece of blackened toast and a rubbery egg - and it tasted wonderful! Best of luck to mum and baby. When not delivering a baby it's closed, at delivery it's approximately 10cm, so she's got half way there and then her body's stopped. FUTO 20-09-2008, 16:09 need to pick our lass up shes having contractions i no where hospital is but wat road is jessops on so i can put it in sat nav help please good luck pal second floor labour ward and 24 hr triage reception  floyd77 20-09-2008, 16:27 Good luck and all that - but did you not think to maybe try a trial run to Jessops so you knew where it was? You've only had 9 Months!! I was planning my route the day after being told I was going to be a dad! espadrille 20-09-2008, 18:09 Any Update? Is no news good news? happyhippy 20-09-2008, 18:38 5cm means that mum's cervix is dilated to 5cm across. When not delivering a baby it's closed, at delivery it's approximately 10cm, so she's got half way there and then her body's stopped. Ok, bear with me ..... by the time I've finished typing this the new arrival may have got here ..... Ex-MrsHH and I had been to a do when she was very heavily pregnant with our second mini-HH. We got back at whatever-o'clock, and obviously ex-Mrs HH was rather tired, with it being the wee hours, and so she went to bed. I decided the night hadn't been traditionally finished, so I dug up a video with Dave Allen doing stand up, but beforehand was 'An Audience With Victoria Wood', so I watched both with a couple more 'hop squashes' (there is a point to all this .....) Anyway, just after that, as I was going to bed myself, the video of United beating Coventry on penalties came on, and I'd never seen it on the TV before (having been in the ground at the time), so I got another 'hop squash' and watched our quarter-final victory until I celebrated again, and eventually went to Non-Snoreland at 5.45. At 6.30, I was woken up to a wet bed, and the dulcet tones of Ex-Mrs HH saying "Guess what?!?!". A certain pandemonium began as she started with heavier, and quicker contractions, and neither of us drive, and a taxi wasn't a possibility, so we called an ambulance. Some 90-100 minutes later, there was no sign, and so we called again, as apologetically as possible. The lady on the other end of the line answered our enquiry with "We are very busy, you know. You know what day it is, don't you?". I politely replied in the affirmative, and said that the contractions were getting closer and closer. Rather in a huff (it will have been a long night), she said "How far apart are they?", and I said "About 30 seconds." "It's on its way love ....." Sure enough, it was, and the staff were fantastic. Mini-HH#1 was sorted out with care - the poor girl was petrified. Well, what would you think if you saw your mother in the final stages of labour with no anaesthetic of any sort? Exactly 30 minutes after arrival at the old Jessops, mini-HH#2 was delivered at 8.58am. The reason for the do, and the delays, and the amount of work for the medical teams? She was born on New Year's Day, 2000. Couldn't have timed it worse. The whole point of all that was to say that when we were in the ambulance, a little check was done, and she was about 8cm dilated. In less than half an hour, not only was she fully dilated, but our second daughter had appeared! teddie 20-09-2008, 18:49 Awww! HappyHippy that's a lovely story :) Marksteeler 20-09-2008, 19:04 still no news folks, no more pains weve rang them and they want us to go in tommorow just so they can have a check, Aqua 20-09-2008, 19:36 I was in labour 49 hours with my son, was stuck at 6cms for around 15 of those, until they broke my waters - that soon got him moving! When my hubby explained we were on our way to nether edge because i was in labour...they quickly ended reading us the riot act!! I then got to hospital and the pains slowed down!! But they decided to keep me anyway..i had a tv brought in to the room and i got out of bed to go to the loo and fell over the wire of the tv!! Hour and half later my son was born!! I must have made it too uncomfortable in there for him so he decided to make an appearance!! My hubby had only just got home too and gone to bed!!! That was the best bit having him disturbed!! Shame on me!! My middle son only took hour and half i only just managed to get into hospital when he was born..talk about a close shave!! Marksteeler 26-09-2008, 10:18 Hello, Alfie was born at 7.41am this morning, anniec 26-09-2008, 10:21 aww how sweet and what did he weigh? are both mummy and baby well? Marksteeler 26-09-2008, 10:27 he weighs 7pound 9, Lucy was due to be induced yesterday at 11am, we got a phone call at 9am to tell us not to come in as there was no beds on wards for her, we were told they would call when comes available in the next couple of days and has lucy was only 40+3 that inducing could be done anytime up till 42 weeks, i had to tell them to read the notes because the senior consultant wanted her in has soon as possible so half an houe later a bed was found, so we got there about 11am and nothing happened till 8pm when we asked a midwife what was happeneing because nobody had come to see us since we arrived, she said nothing was happening because labour was very busy. we asked should we go home then and she said i dont care what you do to be honest, so then again we had to explain situation about the consultant and the previous problems, then 15mins later she came back and they had a bed on labour ward so they took her down gave her a tablet and sent her back up to the ward. Lucy rang at 3.30am to tell me she was gettin bad contraction pains, at 4.20 labour ward rang to say that she was in labour. so i get to hospital, then more drama they explain that there may be a problem they think the cord is in the way of the head so we all had to get prepared for c section we went down but lucky the cord wasnt in the way so it was a natural birth. and within 20mins of 1st urge to push alfie was here with no problems like before. Baby's temp is a bit low and is in a heated cot and lucy is a bit sick but everything else is ok. puddinburner 26-09-2008, 10:29 Yesssssss! Alphie WELCOME!!!!
