My husband used it years ago. He did have some problems following this drug but we can't say it if it was linked or not. I would be very careful if I was you. there have been reports of it being linked to depression and suicides.

In that case you are probably best to stay away from it. Which type of eating isorder do you have if you don't mind me asking? I'm just thinking that by helping your eating disoder first it will have a positive impact on your skin, if at all possible.

my friends experience with raucataine was that he broke out in the worst acne you could imagine for about 6 months

its all clearing up now, but I cant imagine it being too good :S

I was put on it for a while - left me with cracked lips, dry flakey skin and terrible mood swings. Made a conscious decision to take myself off the drug. A few years down the line my skin is nearly perfect and all I use are two good facial cleansers (Clinique Anti-Blemish and Anthony Logistics Algae face wash), a very sharp razor, Clinique shave gel and a Post Shave moisturiser.

Most importantly though I drink a lot of water, eat loads of vegetables (Tenderstem Broccolli, Asparagus, Rocket, Tomatoes, Cucumber) and always have olive oil on my salad. I believe that a combination of factors lead to better skin in the long term.

ps: I often find that the occassional glass of red wine also helps too - seriously :)

pps: If you do have spots (as I did) you have to adopt a healthy mental attitude. Be serious about the things that matter (ie. friends, relationships, work, education) but never too serious about yourself.

Have they put you on the pill for it too? that reputedly helps, spots sometimes being hormonal.

It's interesting that you say you have an eating disorder, as I find spots are closely related to diet. I can't eat chocolate, chips or greasy food with out breaking out like a 14 yr old (which is annoying at 34). There are some shower gels and bath cremes that give me horrid lumps too. All of them have a blue colour to them  Tea tree oil products have the same effect.

The odd thing is, if I eat a granny smith or golden delicious apple every day the whole situation improves   (shame I hate apples :( )

Excercise (proper sweaty stuff) helps lots too. The excercise helps with the eating problem too ;) for lots of reasons.

Zineryt is a topical application you can get. It's really good. It's zinc and eythroymycin. The only side effects really that you have to worry about is it can dry out your skin.

Zineryt is excellent, providing you take it out of the bottle. Bit like wine really!! Tried Dianette but it gave me fluid on the brain so wouldn't recommend it. Roac was a no no because of this. Had Acne for over 30 years. Love me, love my spots.
