View Full Version : Bradfield Brewery - beer now available
The new brewery at Bradfield is now brewing, and the first beer, Farmer's Bitter is now available at the Nags Head near Loxley.
It should be available at other pubs including the Kelham Island Tavern and Cask & Cutler from Thursday.
I went up to the Nags Head last night (great little pub by the way) and tried the beer, and it's pretty decent.
Bradfield expect to supply pubs with the second beer in their range, Farmers Stout, next week, and finally later this month comes the remaining beer in their initial range, Farmers Pale Ale.
Bradfield seem to be knocking out good beer, which seems to be selling very well at the Nags Head, so hopefully this local venture will be well supported and be successfull!
npatchett 10-05-2005, 08:59 Excellent news. Been waiting for this little venture to get off the ground
Hopefully my local (The Commercial) will get some for their guest pumps.
Lovely. Why don't the central Hillsbro pubs trial some of these quality local ales? I'm sure it would broaden the range of punters and improve the whole area. I'd begin to overlook the faults of the Shakey etc if they had some functioning handpumps.

Hillsborough pubs are probaly tied into the big boys. The Barrack on Penistone rd might do it for you they are into real ale.
All pubs are supposed to have guest ales from other breweries, so they could sell local cask ales (eg Bradfield ones) if they wanted. Trouble is, most don't do cask ales at all. Yes, the Barrack and other specialist pubs will sell it but if 'normal' pubs sell it too, particularly those in busy central areas (eg Hillsbro corner) that would be even better and they would broaden their market. Probably only a limited supply at the moment though anyway.
Good luck to them.

cool ye i had a sample up at the brewery (my friend is their son's fiance) not bad at all
the Hare and Hounds in stannington are selling it
spiffymonkey 01-06-2005, 11:29 I've had it in the Hillsborough Hotel and the Devonshire Cat. Nice bitter, although could use a little kick in the aftertaste.
Can't wait for the stout!
I'm told the Pale Ale is now available, haven't tried it yet but it is apparantly quite hoppy.
The stout is excellent
npatchett 01-06-2005, 13:28 I got to try some of the Bradfield brews last weekend at the Commercial in Chapeltown.
The stout was very good, very tasty and a good competitor to Wentworth Oatmeal Stout, my personal favourite stout.
The Farmers Bitter was also good, even one of my mates who is a southern comfort and lemonade drinker normally enjoyed two pints of this.
The last one I tried was the Pale Ale and it was worth the wait  Very nice indeed. Certainly enjoyed knocking back 3 pints of that.
Looking forward to more from this Brewery in the near future.

In that case, I shall be on the hunt for some of this :)
