Hi shirker, cant stand my N95, how did you get on with yours?
'What's the best phone' is a bit like asking 'what's the best car'. Without your specific requirements, people won't know whether to recommend the 'best' sports car or 'best' MPV.
If you currently have an N95 and want a similar 'brick for media', I would say, look at the Samsung INOV8, or perhaps wait for the N96. You could even pick up an N95 8GB.
Be a bit more specific on your needs, we could help more that way - what's important; wifi, 3G, camera, video playback, music, business use, browser, etc.

Its been good, apart from being bulky, I put a 2 gig card in and it does for me. Never tried the sat nav though.
I'm after whatever is generally considered the best current phone.
Top notch camera, big memory, ease of download to pc,.....
Carl_Malibu 18-09-2008, 13:48 Ask yourself honestly what features you use. Day in day out people come and ask me for N95 8gbs, with a bit more questioning they say they're never going to use wifi, gps, video playback, etc. so why bother with the overheads and the bulk if its just going to be used as a phone?
Go for something reliable and with a good battery life, prioritise the features you want and head for them, there is not one "do it all" phone on the market, there isn't such a thing yet. Go for a dedicated camera phone (a la Sonys Cybershot series) or a dedicated email phone (Blackberries / Nokia E series), or whatever other features you think you will genuinely use. To excel at one or two features is much better than to do everything to a mediocre level.
I`ve got a Samsung c300.No camera ,no wifi ,no music just a phone.A phone is supposed to be a phone not a music centre.Only cost £13-00:thumbsup:
You're wrong, in 1994 you would have been right!
I don't want to use all the facilities, I just want to have them!
Is there anything better than the 8 gig N95?

Yeah there is something better, down here in the MI-10 we got phones that stick on the back of your neck. They interface straight to your brain, so you can make calls, text, listen to music, watch videos even browse the web without actually doing anything!
And best of all it only costs £5 without the sim! Let me know if you want one il sort you out, as there is a new model coming out in a week the old ones will be binned anyway.
gatecrasher3 18-09-2008, 17:24 Samsung Omnia any good? That is one I am considering upgrading to.

My friend has one, i wasn't too impressed, its got the same features of phones that are a year old!!
If you can wait the nokia N96 will be out soon, that has new features...

If you don`t want all the funny bits why pay for them.Oh, you may want to show it to people.
The samsung i8510, 8mpixel camera phone, wifi, 8GB of internal memory, and all the other standard features you'd expect.
Carl_Malibu 18-09-2008, 19:10 Omnia has a faster processor than any year old phones, WM6.1, a completely original WM home screen interface, 16GB of internal memory, 8gb expansion slot for micro-SD, top battery life of any of the smartphones and a half decent GPS chip built in (more than can be said for any other GPS phone)
So, no, nothing a year ago rivals it.
kingpin83 19-09-2008, 06:59 I said it has the same features as year old one, yes they might be slightly improved but imho it just looks like its trying to copy the HTC diamond, and as previously stated there are no new features a phone a year ago didn't have, if you are going for an omnia type phoe you may as well get the Iphone!!

Not really, as iPhones have poor battery life, not a very good camera and no memory slot for upgrading/adding additional memory... that is always a must for me.
Looks to me like the N96 is the one to go for
I would wait ... I don't see what the N96 has to offer over the two year old N95.
Blackberry 9000 "Bold".
Pwnage.
I'm still loving my W890i (http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/products/mobilephones/overview/w890i)
Has everything i want apart from a flash on the camera.
kingpin83 22-09-2008, 13:53 Another phone to keep an eye on is the G1 released tommorrow, based on the google android o/s
alexpeter 23-09-2008, 04:36 Upcoming N96 is the best
Upcoming N96 is the best
Best at what? Not battery life, nor weight, nor size. And still no lens cover. Already seems dated IMO and it's not even out yet.
Upcoming N96 is the best
If this is the kind pf phone you are after, I would hold off for the N85. Not out yet but due soon and superior in many ways to the N96 (which seems like a re-hash of the N95).
the n95 had a better spec than the n96!
Andy Burgin 04-10-2008, 20:44 Do not get the N96 as the 5800 or Tube a touch screen mobile from Nokia will be released soon an even better the N85 is on its way just go onto www.gsmarena.com for all the latest mobiles news an reviews
