Okay first of all DS#2 comes in and is bursting with pride as at 10 he has finally been elected to the school council. :D

He is so chuffed, well done Braddy xx

Then DS#1 turns up, sulky teenager that he is in yr 9, to announce he is being progressed and will be starting his GCSE in English next week (a whole year early) and he is thrilled to bits. Romeo and Juliet is his first piece of coursework. He may get the opportunity to fast track a couple of other subjects but that has to be discussed. This has reinvigorated his enthusiasm for school and he can't wait to get stuck in. Well done Zakk, my moshing grubby emo kid ;) xx

School council at 10 and accelerated lessons, sounds like you have a forward thinking school, hope it works out for them both.
