Paul Ince
Tony Cottee

There is a couple more that started out as apprentices at West ham before the current Youth Academy.

West Ham are renowned for their Academy and it's the single biggest contributor to the England squad.

Any up and coming youngster is much better learning their trade at a Academy like West Ham or Crewe IMO. They will never get a proper chance at one of the larger clubs with their squad sizes. If they are good enough a big team will always come in for them.

anton ferdinand is comin on well. good job as well because the first time i saw him play it was worst defensive perfomance ive ever seen. (and ive seen rigobert song!)

You cannot class michael 'pass the ball sideways' carrick as quality. He's a so-called playmaker who sposed to sit in front of the defence, spray passes and then get forward. yet he can't tackle or shoot. His passes are offen errant and plays 1 good pass every 3 games. He has 1 assist for spurs.

carrick does the simple pass mostly....he's not a goalscorer or a great defensive player...just a pretty good little midfielder who hasent fullfilled his full potentional yet. give him another season and that class might start to shine through.

its the way nowadays to buy any young player who shows a little bit of class and bung him in at the highest level and expect genius.

what is the purpose of a midfielder who can't tackle, can't shoot so doesn't score and passes ineffectually? I could play central midfield for spurs and pass the ball sideways.

great passer.

'Carrick is only one challenge short of making a century of tackles for the Hammers this season - more than any other Premiership player.' <---- that was his last season with west ham.

fell out of favour with previous tottenham manager. tottenham are great under achievers for the quality they have at the club.

to say he cant pass is :loopy: and clearly he can tackle as stats show. i wasent that bothered when he went to spurs though. hes good..just not amazing

i never said he cudn't pass, i said he passes inefectually. When he plays for spurs he DEFINITELY can't tackle. Just sits in front of the back 4 day dreaming as the game passes him by. Out-muscled and out-classed.
