No apologies for making this Sundays walk a return visit to Lathkilldale so soon after we were last there in June, but we enjoyed such a fantastic walk that day, even though it was a boiling hot, that we couldn't wait to do the dale again! For anybody who hasn't been to Lathkilldale before, it really is a stunning place, and one of the quieter parts of the Peak District too, with not as many visitors as other more popular areas.

The walk we're doing this Sunday will be around 6/7 miles long and go through both Lathkilldale and Cales Dale, and cover some of the Limestone Way. The meeting place is the village Green in Monyash at 10.45, just outside the Bulls Head pub. I'm afraid there is no suitable public transport to get to this weeks walk, so it's car users only, although I'm sure if anybody needs a lift from town there'll be someone able to oblige!

Sort you out some dishes to wash to keep you occupied for an hour or two :)

Hope to make it for this one - it's Tallygirl's birthday on the 19th and I suspect one of her pressies may be a walking-related item, so she'll hopefully want to give it a try!

I would like to come to this. I have no idea where it is though, any chance of a lift?

there's a link with directions I think. The usual lift-givers are already there for an overnight stay, but there may be other people who will be going on Sunday - hope you strike lucky.

Cheers Godzilla for the reply to Foxforcefive, a few of us had indeed already left for a camping visit to Monyash before she posted, which we tied in with walks on Saturday and today.
Like yesterday, once again we were blessed with wonderful weather, and some beautiful scenery in Lathkilldale, Over Haddon and Monyash. There was so much to see today, I could be here all day listing them, but apart from the wildlife, the sights and the mining history, seeing a donkey being taken a walk on a lead, the River Lathkill waterfall, and having a serious tussle with a cow were all interesting moments, to say the least! Changed my mind about pursuing a vocation as a cowboy after today, don't think my cow-herding abilities are as good as I thought they were :(. Used to look easy on Rawhide!

You certainly had a good weekend weather-wise. I look forward to the rodeo photos:)

Doubt if anybody captured the moment, seeing as everybody was fleeing in the opposite direction!
By the way, is Son of Godzilla back in Blighty?

Great walk today, in glorious sunshine and excellent company. The refreshment stop at the end was much needed and very welcome!

Thanks also to Inkie in her absence for wonderful cake (and to neoteric for sharing it!)

Yes, I got a phone call a few hours ago, he was on the train heading for Sheffield. He'd got mixed up - thought he'd be back late last night, but instead it's tonight. He thought he'd have today to recover. Anyway, he says he's had a brilliant time. No doubt there will be lots of photos.

Even though I missed out on 2 great walks, I had a wonderful weekend hobbling between the campsite & the pub! Thanks to everyone for making this such a great weekend. I even heard a rumour that some members of the group really wished I had been with them at one stage (ahhhh,) Then I found it was to use me as a decoy for the bad tempered cows to give everyone else chance to leg it!!:suspect: With friends like this - who needs enemies!:hihi:

Believe me, you wouldn't have wanted to be there. The language from one young lady, no name necessary cos you know who I mean, was horrendous.

:o I'm shocked! I didn't think anyone used bad language, was LOUD, or laughed 23.5 hours a day! (1/2 hour needed to paint nails, apply lippy, straighten hair....) So I can't think who you mean:D

Well now I'm shocked. 23.5 hours a day laughing and being LOUD can't be correct . I mean, 3 meals x 20 mins + 3 snacks x 10 mins adds up to 1.5 hours a day spent quietly troughing alone. 22.5 hours is more like it :D
