Can anyone recommend a place to get a new watch battery at a reasonable price?
The High Street multiples want ridicous prices.

I got mine done in Debenhams on the moor for about a fiver (I think)

Coles should do them too.

I've used that shop on High Street next to Natwest in the past, it's a little shoe repair type shop.

Try TJ Hughes, Sheffield. All watch batteries fitted for £2.50p and guarenteed.

The market stall outside Woolies on The Moor, next to Chris and Barry's tool stores do not give a guarentee. Or at least didnt to me for mine when I asked.

Bizarrely a use for £shops, they have multi packs of batteries for £1, generally about 6 of each size and they come in useful for all sorts of junk like keylights.
Alternately you can have the one you want and 5 spares for a quid.

The shop on the lower floor of the Castle Market is pretty good for cheap batteries and watch straps - much cheaper than Coles or Debenhams

If you buy cheap watch batteries in multiple packs from cheap shops they don't always last very long.
When installing them, never touch them with your fingers as the moisure from your hands will cause corrosion and poor connection after a while.
If you go to maplins or bardwells the batteries can be quite pricey. Best place to go to is a small jewellers, they are the best place and by far the cheapest for a small battery, and always the best quality ones. At Woodseats there is a place such as this nearly opposite the chantrey pub. It's a small jeweller's shop at the end of the row of shops

I always go to the little watch fixing shop in orchard square on the upper level, above what is now a shoe shop. Its really cheap and the lil old guy in there doesn't rip you off.
