Can you believe they sentenced a cat to be beheaded?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4524059.stm

why cant they put it down with some injections - wouldnt that be more humane?

That is so sick, like you say injections would be more humane, I can't believe anyone would come up with the idea of beheading a cat

I am willing to bet that the court has not actually ruled that the cat should be killed by beheading.
It is more likely that it has said that the head should be removed for medical examination of the brain to verify the rabies infection. (... after it has been killed)
This is not unusual.

If you read the article carefully it does not actually say "death by beheading".

I make no comment on whether it should be killed in the first place or not.

It is in Chile though. Don't forget we used to condone the removal of royalty's heads ;)

true. It does imply it by not specifying the method of execution. You are probably right though. It would be rather odd to behead a live cat...
