I went out with friends this weekend, and a new girl came out with us who looked like she had basted herself in orange (see tanning thread), stuck a few bits of dead horse in her hair for extension 'highlights' and...the worst bit... wore glitter eyeshadow!!! I then learnt she was into her dance music and promptly saw 'chav' in flashing lights above her head.

What is it with people and glitter eyeshadow? A bit of glitter for fancy-dress purposes is fine, but surely we ought to leave glitter to the tweenies?

I had glitter eyeshadow on on Saturday night - it's all I had left in the house, my "normal" make-up was elsewhere. I'm definitely NOT a chav though :blush:

My girlfriend wears glitter. She even has a spray that covers her in glitter. She's about as far away from a 'chav' as you can get. I think it's funny. Even more so when I get up in the morning and I'm covered in it as well!

I love the whole glitter disco look of the 70's. I personally wouldn't wear it though unless I was doing fancy dress, but each to their own.

And I dress pretty straight-laced boring most of the time, so am definitely not a label-nazi (name-wise, not clothes-wise). I had to have serious words with my normally-indie chick sister who was found listening to the sort of dance music where that same woman does all the singing over the weekend.... I think, like many things, it depends on how you wear it. If you smother yourself in it to go the shop in a morning for a pint of milk, you're possibly edging towards "chavdom". If you put a little bit on for a big night out, that's not so bad. I don't bother with make-up these days but had the occasional subtle bit on years back for the occasional night out.

I sometimes wear a really dark blue liquid eyeliner thats glittery, I think it looks really nice when you can only just see it. I agree though, glitter eyeshadow is only nice when its on the eyelid. When spread up to your eyebrows, not so nice!!
