All my rellies are from Sheffield (best family in the world) and I am currently doing my fam tree.
I'd love to know which steel works/ cutlery factories they all worked at pre 1930's right back to 1800. How on earth do I find out?
Most of them were knife grinders / scythe grinders, and lived around the Heeley area. One surname was Reaney and another Egginton.
Can anyone help? is there a register somewhere?

The Kelly's and Whites Trade Directories kept in the Local Studies Library and more copies in the Archives list all the trades and addresses.

The staff are very helpful, they will help you to find what you are looking for.
