If you're the parent of a toddler you've probably spent countless hours in front of kids TV programmes and videos, so here's an observation game to play when you're finally watching those credits roll at the end: how many old 70's rockers can you spot who are now contributing the incidental music and songs to such programmes?
For example: the musical bits in the Teletubbies, and for that matter in its precursor Tots TV, are done by a guy called Andrew McCrorie-Shand, who used to be the keyboard player for minor 70s prog rock group Druid, who I think released four albums. And the music on Angelina Ballerina is done by Colin Towns, whom I remember seeing live when he was part of heavy rock band Gillan (after they changed from being called the Ian Gillan Band to just Gillan, and had Bernie Torme on guitar, fat bald-headed goatee-beard-sporting John McCoy on bass, and Colin Towns on keyboards). And now I've discovered that the music in the Rugrats movie was done by Mark Mothersbaugh, leading light of boiler-suit-wearing US pseudo-punks Devo. It's a bit depressing seeing one's adolescent (minor) heroes providing walk-on music for Po and Co., but I suppose it pays the mortgage.
Can anybody spot any others I've missed?
