View Full Version : Mini Moto track available in sheffield
MuteWitness 09-05-2005, 05:05 Park wood karting is holding a mini moto day between 11-4 every sunday its £20 per person to rent the track and then you have it to yourselfs for 5 hours.
www.parkwoodkarting.com its near the sheffield ski village
lalaland 09-05-2005, 08:27 We used to use the over spill car park at Tescos on Abbeydale Road. They didn't seem to mind as long as we kept out of the way, but we out grew the mini motos and sold them on Ebay after a few months.
A track idea like this is a good one though, we were always looking for something like this.
yeah, but how many people do you need to get? says 12 people here
MuteWitness 09-05-2005, 16:47 thats the go karting this is just the track hire - go down on a sunday there were about 20 people last sunday not all on the track at the same time
SteveWilson 17-05-2005, 14:33 Seen this site www.diddybikes.com and the full fairing model is only £99.
I'm thinking of buying one, as i cant afford no £725 for a blata.
Anyone shed any light on these bikes are they a load of poo poo?

Don't know, but that sidecar outfit looks ace :o
lalaland 17-05-2005, 14:39 Unless they've changed design, they aren't 49cc.
I used to have one before my Blata (which I also sold) and it was claimed then to be 49cc, but definately wasn't.
I had the half faired model on the top left of that site, although I didn't buy it from them.
They aren't bad really. Pretty cheaply put together compared to Blatas, but they are a good laugh. Make sure you check it over properly before riding it.
Mine had a problem starting, but this was a kinked fuel pipe. Remove the tank, snip the pipe and reattach it, simple. Another mates had a problem with the rear brake, but that was fixed by salvaging spares from another one that had bust.
The main difference between them and Blata is the build quality, the size (these are slightly bigger), the spares (Blata has loads and are easy to get, spares for these are like rocking horse poo to find) and the modifications (Blata has loads out, these are pretty much bodge or DIY mods).
If you want something for a bit of fun these are fine, but don't expect them to last forever and don't expect to compete in the proper mini moto races.
SteveWilson 17-05-2005, 14:40 Doesnt it just!!!!!
I have been on loads of sites trying to find cheap mini motos but they all look the same!
these at www.diddybikes.com are the cheapest and at £99 i think i might just buy it, if its tosh then its not the end of the world.
plus they have all off road, etc to suit tastes for cheap...
HAS ANYONE GOT ONE??????????

Cant wait, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Remember to buy some decent two stroke oil, use synthetic if you can and make sure it's a good brand.
Make sure you run the engine in and check the tyres before each run as most seem to have slow punctures.
Also check ALL nuts and bolts each time you play on it, they have a habit of working lose with the vibrations. Nothing serious if you check them, but if not you may find things coming lose when moving and that will hurt!:D
Oh yeah, do NOT use it on any public area, including pavements and roads. If you get caught you could see your license disapear for several offences including dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving other than in accordance with a license, unroadworthy vehicle etc. the list goes on and you will get shafted if caught.
But they are fun if looked after properly. Enjoy.........:D

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7157012161&ssPageName=STRK:MEBI:IT That's exactly the same bike and I still don't believe the engines are 49cc at all and I know full well that they do not do 40mph.
They are fun though, so if you aren't too bothered about the above then don't worry about it.
As for the colours, they are easy to spray. Just unbolt the plastics, soak them in the bath, rub them down with sand paper slightly, spray with paints from Halfords or similar and then apply laquer. I did it to mine and most of my mates customised theirs, very fun.
The rest of the features on that are standard.
It also appears that the auction has ended and someone's just paid over £100 for a bike that you can get at £80 on that site :D

I also sprayed mine using a very similar method.
