Did anyone watch this, I think it was on Channel 5 over the weekend, the missus recorded it and I had a brief glimpse this morning.

Fantastic to watch, but some of the people on there defy belief!!

The single mum, who went with her mates, slept about while abroad and then came home to find that the media were branding her a slut after she gave them a glimpse into what she was like over there was especially entertaining for me- due to the fact that she obviously couldnt see why she was being branded a complete slapper in the first place- I pity her daughter growing up and seeing that documentary I really do.

And the lass who had her hair shaved off.... bless her.

i cant believe they kept saying that these people are just letting their hair down whilst on holiday!

what are they like at home?

and the rep it gives us brits abroad is appalling!

good tv tho! ;-)

I have been on these holidays myself, and found them to be cheap holidays taken by a large a cross section of holidaymakers. Very few sexual liasons happened over what would usually happen in a night clubbing scene in your home city.
There were couples, and older people (40+) and much more males than females.
The main problems with these holidays is that the reps get you up early and try to sign you up for £200 worth of events, early on the first morning. Obviously the younger and more naïve members of the party think that they have to pay this money, and are confused as to how much they are paying as it's an unfamiliar currency.
Later on the reps do all they can to get everyone slaughtered on alcohol. Making you play drinking games, and antagonising other groups in the same resort etc..
It is usually easy to have a much better time without the reps, and the last time (mid 1990s) my brother and I headed a large group as unofficial reps, looking after the younger ones and making sure they got home to their rooms safely.

Nowadays I make my own way in other countries, It is so easy to organise your own holidays and accomodation on line. And besides everywhere you go people are always very nice, it's usually just the loudmouth English that spoil it, with their soverign rings, face piercings and similar tattoes, you can spot them at 200 yards.

Thanks Muddycoffee, couldn't have put it better myself
I've been on a few of the 18-30 hols mainly because they were cheap & cheerful, especially the San Antonio one  But I never fall for the rep's spiel, even when go on "normal" holidays. We make our own entertainment without having to pay their fees on top.
I think these programmes tend to use only the more "over the top" tourists, probably 'cos they think no one would bother watching otherwise.
Not that I'm condoning the antics of the single mum but it'd be pretty boring watching the antics of a tourist like me who just does nothing but laze by the pool and have a few Buds at nite.

Thanks Cutglass.

Yes it's very often £200 cheaper to go on a package holiday than sort your own trip out, I have found. Although on packages you have to expect a flight in the middle of the night, and possibly the last day might be wasted as you have to guard your luggage all day because you are ejected from your room at noon and you might have 12 hours before you go back to the airport. The hotels are always fully booked, and when there is a baggage room it's often full up, and sometimes it can be noisy so you have to sleep with ear plugs in (a travel essential)

Also I have booked a hotel on line before (on a d.i.y. trip) only to find that when you arrive on the resort, there is a problem and they have sorted out another room for you in another hotel, which they get a free taxi for you. This is ok so far but it makes you wonder, how much of a risk you are taking.
I have also just flown to places and found a room when there, but this often takes an hour or two, and is a waste of your precious time away. My friends did this in America when they caught the Grayhound bus to new york, but there was nowhere which they could find acceptable to stay, so they just waited in the bus garage for the next town in the morning.
