View Full Version : Military helicopters over S20...
MK Ultra 14-09-2008, 15:07 I've seen about 6 military helicopters fly over Crystal Peaks this afternoon at different intervals (2 x single and 2 x pairs). All travelling from south to north. Anyone know if there was an event or air display on anywhere..?
puddinburner 14-09-2008, 15:16 No but guess it may have something to do with other thread re: power cut? Possibly?
MK Ultra 14-09-2008, 15:28 Hmmm, possibly..? I did wonder, but why military and why so many?
Were they heading out towards Derbyshire? Perhaps it's connected with the UFO in the quarry?
puddinburner 14-09-2008, 15:42 I guess it could have been a national emergency if all the power had to be cut off like it did and I would'nt want to be trapped in Crystal peaks, bet the cops were panicking?

No, they were heading in the direction of Rotherham from Killamarsh way.

Don't think they were Apaches, certainly not armed to the teeth like apaches usually are anyway. More than likely all or most were Lynx, like what bluenwhite said.
Old_Bloke 14-09-2008, 16:52 An Apache (complete with various missile pods under it's little wings) flew over Mexborough about a hour ago. Probably just on loan to South Yorkshire Police to help stop the joyriders... permanently :)
Jabberwocky 14-09-2008, 17:01 We had four military helicopters fly over here where we are in Leicestershire the other day and about 30 minutes later, four WW2 Japanese Zeros went over head in formation.
I wonder if theres an air show anywhere...
AJ sheffield 14-09-2008, 17:33 Maybe they are going the the S5 area
They might end up getting shot down then.
It's Leuchars air show today. There aren't any flying Zero's in the UK Jabbers, I suspect that you saw the Yakovlevs - big radial engined Russian training / aeros machines that do a cracking display.
Edit : Jabbers, this is they, was it them ? www.yakovlevs.com

Yep its a definate possibility, they had really high-pitched screaming engines.

Did anyone tell the Japanese that the war is over? If not then tell them instead of bombing Pearl Harbour again Parsons Cross is that way>>>>>
We saw one military helicopter in brimington, chesterfield bout 6.15. It few over the house from sheffield direction and was hovering over for bout 5mins then flew back towards sheffield. Not sure what they were looking at or looking for.

And there's a lass called Pearl Arbore and her 7 kids who live on Wordsworth.
Jabberwocky 14-09-2008, 17:51 If they do a bombing run on the cross and go too low... theyll have their wheels nicked!

They could bomb it with bottles of white lightening to keep the locals happy :hihi:

Bit far away Fife though..??
Probably heading to 9 Regiment AAC base at Disforth, North Yorkshire. They have Lynx, Gazelle and Apache helicopters there.
One of the first Apaches to fly from Dishforth had to make an emercency landing at Sheffield Airport over two years ago. It turned out a bit of metal off one of the new turbine engines had been detected by the on board safety systems.
Sheffield in action to save the Army.
