Bakewell/Lathkill Dale/Over Haddon Walk Saturday 20th Bakewell 1pm
For those people who find it difficult to get to our Sunday walks (and also for the Sunday walkers of course), here's a Saturday walk in one of the nicest parts of Derbyshire. I've taken the walk from one of the Pat and Peter Tindall books which have given us some really excellent days out this year, and I've no doubts that this one will be just as good as the others.
It's a 6 mile circular walk from Bakewell which to start with follows the River Wye to Haddon Hall, before climbing up above the fabulous Lathkill Dale to Over Haddon, before returning back down to Bakewell.
There'll be the opportunity to stop just over 1/2 way at The Lathkill Hotel, and I'm certain we'll also visit one of our favourite pubs, The Queens Hotel in Bakewell at the end.
If anybody wants to meet beforehand for a picnic, then they could do so between 12.0 and 12.30 on the grassed area between the road bridge that you use to enter Bakewell, and the new pedestrian walkway over the river, which links the town to the cattle market area. This area will also be the official meeting place for the start of the walk.
For anyone wanting to use public transport, the 218 leaves Sheffield Interchange at 11.35, arriving at Bakewell at 12.20.
Please note, there will still be a Sunday walk next week as normal, details of which will be posted in the next day or two.
