...i mean the council's Streetforce service. We need a diseased tree removing as my Dad's registered disabled and wants to build a drive on the front but a diseased tree is on the grass verge blocking the way, i know we need planning permission to drive on the pavement etc but the tree is the major headache. Any advice? i have the number for Streetforce but has anyone had any assistance from the council in the past?

Highway Trees - Maintenance
Street Force is responsible for the management and maintenance of Highway Trees throughout Sheffield. In addition Street Force carry out Arboricultural work for other Council service areas.
We also provide a 24-hour per day 365 days per year call out service in response to emergencies caused by trees due to accidents or gale damage.
What is Tree Management?
When trees are close to the highway (a road or footpath) tree management is required to ensure that the trees and shrubs are maintained in such a way that they do not hinder the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians.
In Sheffield highway trees are managed to minimise the safety risk from broken hanging, fallen and low branches, and from dead or dying trees obstructing the highway or footpath. We also deal with trees that obscure sight lines, traffic lights, street lights, pelican crossings or road signs. When carrying out any tree maintenance work (pruning, cutting back or felling) we aim to maintain or enhance the appearance of trees in the city.
What is Arboriculture?
The Arboricultural Association define it as:
"The industry and profession which has developed to enhance Britain's amenity trees, those which are valued for their colour, shape, cultural, emotional or historic associations, wildlife habitat and so on, not trees grown in forests which are harvested for their timber value."
It can also be described as...the study and care of trees, shrubs and woodlands for amenity (decorative) purposes. Involving Planting, Pruning, Felling, Training and Education.
