View Full Version : Forum cinema outing to see Kill Bill
Any other forum members want to come see 'Kill Bill' ... this Sunday evening probably at the Odeon in town?
Come on guys ... all welcome ... the more the merrier
commie pig 21-10-2003, 09:35 aaah don't bother, it's rubbish, n it doesn't do what it says it will on the tin
;)
Agent Dan 21-10-2003, 09:58 I'm up for that mate! I only live round the corner!! PM me or something if you get a group together!!
wouldnt UGC be better surely? for sheer size and sound quality>?
I'm ok for either UCG or one in town (Odean) ... but other people don't have transport and can only get to a cinema in town.
Looks like me and you so far agentdan ... and tinajones said she might come.
Anyone else ??
I'd like to see it, but I'm waiting to hear from a friend because we'd sort of said we might see it together. If he fancies this Sunday then maybe I could bring him along too.
I prefer UGC, but you're right about Odeon being handier for people without a car.

2.20 is loads. thats like the price of a bevvy! not to mention the hassle of waiting around on a sunday for a tram in the cold and then having to share it with obnoxious teenagers who are off to play on the arcades at centertainment!!!
but if anyone reckons the visuals deserve the full monty screen then do tell.... i could to the 'tainment on a monday then caprice could come too!
PaulTansley 21-10-2003, 21:36 We heard u the first time Tina.:loopy: :D
Saw Kill Bill tonite on screen 8 at the UGC. Sound and BIG screen definitely helped. Just got to wait for episode II now !
Oh, and the supertram dayriders are 2.40 these days [7.50 for weekly tickets and 29 for the monthly ones]. Ticket prices below

Not a bad deal t020. I thought the going rate was nearer 30p per mile.
Agent Dan 22-10-2003, 08:20 I don't mind going in the boot!!! :D
(is that cheaper /mile?)

LOL! There's nothing to tell, Belle. He's just a friend! :D
I also appear to have been persuaded to see The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen on Sunday afternoon instead (at UGC). So it would depend what time you decide to see Kill Bill as to whether I could make it. I think 2 films in 1 day might be too much though!

funnily enough after paying my way through 2 degrees i can't afford one. doesn't fit with my ethics or lifestyle anyway. and i don't suppose anyone would want to sit net to me if i went on my bike...
Kill bill .... starts at 8.30 on Sunday.
If we all meet up in the foyer at UGC around 8pm, we can get tickets and then go for a quick drink before the film ... (there is a bar upstairs in UGC).
That ok with everyone?
Agent Dan 24-10-2003, 11:56 I'm afraid I'm going to have to pass on this one (even though I said I would make it) - I have to go and see my uncle on sunday, which I'd forgotten about! :(
Let me know what it's like though...
may get there! will try!!
Cant go to bar tho im ony 14 lol
Fletch
No you won't be going Fletch as this film is an 18 certificate, so you will not be allowed in.
And your mum says NO.
tinajones 25-10-2003, 14:16 ying and i will be attending. we shall arrive by public transport.
do you reckon we should book tickets in advance to save queing?
Is it worth booking in advance ... I've never done that before !?
I thought if we got their early, say 8pm, get the tickets and then go for a pre-film drink ...
tinajones 26-10-2003, 12:15 after being very cold in town last night i have decided not to brave public transport on a sunday night.
i am up for going to odeon/showroom in the week tho.
weekday at the showrom-
now yr talking
lets make this the plan!:)
Is anyone going tonight then??? I wouldn't want to get there and be all on my own!
Everyone has pretty much pulled out Andy, so if you go ...
... you're likely to be the only one there !!
Maybe we should reschedule ...
I've never been to the Showroom, so I'd like to go there.
How about Thursday? It's on at 8.20.
tinajones 26-10-2003, 18:33 can't do thurs 'cos 'm going to that horror-fetish thing at the city hall. and wednesday i may pay e-man a visit.
what about monday/tuesday?
Monday's a bit too close to organise...Tuesday then?

Odeon is also useless for people with a car, the nearest car parking facilities that are anywhere NEAR are those on the corner of Queen Street/Meetinghouse Lane.
Agent Dan 27-10-2003, 07:44 erm... there' a car park next to the odeon. Multi-storey one...
tinajones 27-10-2003, 10:49 tuesday - odeon - 8.30pm ??? only one i can make due to yoga commitments and beauty salon appointment.
can't make tuesdays :-( ... also got yoga and salsa commitments !!
what about thursday ?
Funnily enough I've just arranged to go on Thursday with a mate. We're going to the 8.30 showing at UGC. I might see some of you there if a few of you decide to go.
tinajones 04-11-2003, 19:19 did anyone meet and see it?!
click away now if you haven't seen it yet...
i finally got to see 'tarantinos 4th film' at le weekend. thought it was quite funny all that blood sprting everywhere and eveyones manner in which they went about the killings. the only bit i found i had to wince at and feel the pain was when uma thurman repeatedly slammed the hospital porters head inbetween the heavy door - but he damn well deserved it!!!
I saw it and I thought it was alright. I always find myself comparing his other films to Pulp Fiction though and I always find that I'm disappointed: "It's not as good as Pulp Fiction"! But then Pulp Fiction is perfection so how can he better that? And it's a tall order to even match it.
If you haven't seen it yet then don't read on!
I thought Kill Bill was typically Tarantino with all the blood and gore. His attention to detail with how people died was pretty funny. Nice squishing and splattering noises with the blood gushing everywhere!
He paid a lot of attention to how the film looked and sounded I thought. Like the sword fight that continued in the dark when the lights were turned off, but had the illumination from behind. Looked cool though. And as ever he picked cool songs to fit the mood of the film.
Just wish he could have written it in one volume so that we don't have to wait for Volume 2 after being left on a cliff hanger at the end of Volume 1!
And the hospital porter definately deserved a head smashing!
