can anybody give me some help my grandad was brought up in an orphanage called porter cottage home on sharrow vale rd is this the same place as mount pleasant house around 1905/14 thanks alandavid

OK:- Sharrow Vale Road and Sharrow Lane are two different roads.

Mount Pleasant House (MPH) is on the London road end of Sharrow Lane.

I do believe that MPH was being used as an orphanage/ Children's Home type affair at that time, (as well as at some point being used to house people with mental health problems) so it may be that your grandpa got the names of the roads mixed up? I don't know that it was ever known as "porter cottage home".
