There are loads of employment agencies and also pubs/bars/nightclubs looking for staff. If you really need work straight away I would suggest coming up to shef a week or two early to have your pick of the work before everyone else gets back! *Twinkle* 07-05-2005, 15:02 I'm starting SHU in September  (Studying LLB Law) What will you be studying? I currently have a part time job for 16hrs a week (2 x 8 hr shifts) which is enough for me to live on currently. For uni, I shall be staying in the same job, but having my contract renewed so that I can have 3 full days. Jobs are easy to come by, there are a lot of recruitment places/call centres that have a birthday when the students arrive in September! You shouldnt have a problem getting a job at all... I do believe the uni has a job net thingy, where they advertise pt jobs or ft summer jobs.... Hope this helps! lynzi123 07-05-2005, 15:25 awww thank you so much!! i doing town planning...should be fun! so i take it you live in sheffield.i live in liverpool and came accross this site on a student site. im so nervous still...:s but thanks for the confidence!!xxx *Twinkle* 07-05-2005, 15:30 Yeah I do... I have lived in Sheffield since I was about 2 years old :) You don't have to be nervous about coming to sheffield, we're a nice enough bunch of people and sheffield is a very student tolerant city  Don't worry about the job situation, you'll get something!!! Bars always want staff and if you get REALLY desperate, there's always Burger King or McD's lol! raskel 07-05-2005, 16:34 william hill call centre are always happy to recruit students, can have any contract you want really, and the hours are flexible to suit your needs  AlBal 08-05-2005, 18:39 hi there! as a student myself at SHU i found blue arrow and office angels to be good temp agencies. there really flexible and the wage is weekly, even better!!! office angels is more as it name says on the office side of jobs. blue arrow have a good connection with the huge dixons and ventura call centres 2. Hope this helps! xx discovery 17-09-2005, 22:26 The Hammer & Pincers Pub at Bents Green (Ecclesall) are looking for bar staff at the moment. discovery 19-09-2005, 15:20 The Graduate (large modern pub) on Surrey Street in the city centre, opposite the library are advertising vacancies for kitchen and bar staff. I went passed today and they had a sign outside Hurry ... susiebooshoe 19-09-2005, 16:03 yeah I agree with William Hill. They employ a lot of students, and contracts range from 7 hours on a saturday, to 10, 12 or 16 hours a week for part time hours. BoroughGal 20-09-2005, 14:24 I think Morrisons are very student friendly too. Worth a try for some extra cash. |
