he's not to old for a party! I'm 27 and I'm not :hihi:
Why not offer to let him and a couple of mates go somewhere special, such as to the pictures? You could always take them, get the tickets and meet them after so he feels grown up. Or swimming, one of the fun pools like ponds forge might be good? I always think at that age if they've got a couple of friends with them they're happy!
Or maybe a computer game tournament if they're into that, hire a couple of the newest games and maybe offer a prize for the best score? Leave them with some pizza and snacks and they'll be happy :hihi:

ski village? my daughter had a fab time there at tobogganing, and there was lots of older kids enjoying it
took my, then,11 year old carting that was a fab time all the kids enjoyed it
This year he wants a paintball party (he is 14) but at £15 a head and need a minumum of 10 i think he can pick something else.

Go to X scape. There's so much there to do skiing, toboganning, climbing, bowling, crazy golf, lazer zone, cinema. There's bound to be something he would like doing there.
we went karting at mexborough - cant remember the name but it was fab
