Hi there,
Does anybody know of any locations in Lincolnshire/Yorkshire where it is possible to get married in the woods?
Thanks,
Louise
I've read that under uk law you have to get married in a licensed building. You can't get married in the open air or a tent. You could do the legal bit in a register office and still have a blessing/service outside?
Can you get married out doors in England?
I thought it had to be in a building?
Can you get married in Scotland in the woods?

If you mean a legal civil wedding ceremony in England & Wales, I regret that it can only be conducted inside registered venue which must be a building with a roof.
A list of registered venues can be found using this page (http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/marriages/theceremony/mvsearch.asp#0) .
Or, you could consider an outdoor ceremony after your 'official' marriage.
Others may be able to advise on alternative ceremonies.
Yes, you can do it in Scotland!

Why would you like to get married in a wood? Knowing what the weather is like around these parts, you can be sure it would rain.
I bet the guests would love standing around in a wet forest, sliping and sliding about in the mud.
Just a thought....

That's what some of my family were grizzling about, and when they got there they were all amazed at how quick it was to get there.
Stupid thing is, they were going to be staying a couple of nights - but they go to Cardiff and back in one day and don't bat an eyelid  :loopy:
(I got married on Easter Sunday, in case you missed it ;) )

I've heard of a few couples getting married in Padley Gorge.

Padley Gorge is where the river runs through from Fox House to Padley Village in the Peak District.

The Botanical Gardens are about as close to the woods as you can legally get married in Sheffield - BUT the place is very badly managed. We got so hacked-off with not being able to get hold of them to make arrangements that we moved our Civil Ceremony to the Town Hall.....
