Far far away.............that was the hit single from the film if i am right from 1974.
Slade had lost there appeal by then and were on there way out.
Great band of the glam rock period though.

Really nice to read about SLADE on this forum!!!

For those of you who are still Slade fans (I hope they are :-)) I'd like to confirm that Slade are still touring with original members and founders Dave Hill and Don Powell (they were of course acting in Slade In Flame).

SLADE's Merry Xmas Everybody Tour 2003 will begin on 28th November and there are 20 UK dates which you can find by visiting Slade's Official Website at:

All the best + Merry Xmas Everybody + Keep On Rockin'!!!

This brings back the memories. My first boyfriend took me, and bought me a box of matchmakers ... I thought that was really opulent (we were only 15). Aah young love, nothing like it

I was in the Slade fan club and had a signed photo of them when they had their Skin haircuts. Anyone else in the fan club? It cost a massive 30p a year and you got regular newsletters!

my mate was in the slade "perseverance" fan club in the eighties...we were the only fans around by then!

we even played loads of slade records on r.o.t.t. (the youth programme on radio sheffield), and invited listeners to ring into "sladeline" and confess that they were fans really!

nobody rang.....

Reading through this thread and the pictures of the Kelvin brought back some memories. I watched Slade filming on the Kelvin and surrounding areas, allthough never got to meet them. I lived on the Kelvin from 69 to 75.

Crikey who dug this old thread up.

Seeing that its back, Slade were recently on TVs Airport or at least Dave Hill was.
There still around minus the other 3 originals.
The new lead singer did a burst of the old Noddy tonsils and was quite impressive.

Dave Hill has not changed at all, neither has Noddy all that mush apart from looking older but don't we all.
Powell the drummer looked the oldest who was on at Christmas and Dave Lee looks youngest of them all.
Great band in there time.
Saw them at the City Hall about 73 with support group an unknown Alex Harvey Band.
