Rich 06-05-2005, 18:53 WTF?! 75p a minute?! Godalmighty! Even AO bloody hell's techies are an 0800 number, granted they're completely useless but at least you don't have to pay to listen to them not have a blinding clue what they're talking about :loopy: alchresearch 07-05-2005, 10:56 What exactly do you mean by 'staying online'? It sounds like you're being disconnected, but if it's cable broadband, this isn't possible. Jon 07-05-2005, 12:19 Originally posted by alchresearch What exactly do you mean by 'staying online'? If its not a BT problem BT will give your ISP grief and they will fix it fast. kingfisher 09-05-2005, 13:43 I am on tele west and am having trouble getting on the internet each time a message comes up saying limited or no conectivity i spent 25 mins on the phone(at my expense)where i was told to type different words into my box it didnt make a bit of difference to getting connected.i am supposed to be on broadband but its no faster than freeserve was and that was much cheaper.there service is rubbish march 09-05-2005, 13:55 Kingfisher, are you using wireless equipment. Thay may be your problem if you are rather than anything Telewest are doing. Jon 11-05-2005, 19:10 :help: Work this one out, i bought a new cable running from my filter to my broadband modem on the first day it worked with no troubles, the next day it stopped working :suspect: and today i've been trying to get online without much luck until 9pm when it worked a treat...I heard longer the cable the worse your conextion can be is that true? and without ringing NTL anyone got any ideas whats wrong? Precisely, unlike ADSL with those crappy USB modems (and sometimes the Ethernet's would) never conk-out. I have been permanently online with NTL for a few days now - and no d/c, unlike our old PlusNet service which regularly d/ced itself (on both the USB and Ethernet modems). Sort of, a non-crap cable will not affect the connection. The wiring in your home is likely to be the best of the lot between your modem and the exchange, what with it not been submersed in water etc... Someone started a rumour to try and sell "ADSL modem leads", some people fell for it. It isn't the quality of the cable, it's the quality of the connections.
