View Full Version : Cosy's birth thread - now with pics
cosywolf 08-09-2008, 10:34 According to my countdown timer...21 hours to go to start of induction, and counting.
Will he come beforehand? (Unlikely:()
Will induction work or will he come out the sunroof? (Your job is to vibe successful induction and labour for me:D)
Have I packed, cleaned, sorted and done everything? (Does my OH even care? He gets at least 2-3 days to himself, having sent the cosycub to grandparents...the carefully tidied house'll be a wreck...)
Anyway, shamelessly and pleadingly, send me luck and good vibes!
Big hugs to you all :P

cosywolf 08-09-2008, 21:47 Now I'm getting nervous...what if they're too busy and turn me away? How's it all going to go?
Doubt I'll get much sleep tonight...:help:
Just spent ages trying to figure out how to make my breast pump fit together and how to put up the travel cot we use as the baby station downstairs. Seems if you remember to keep the equipment, 9 times out of ten you've thrown the manual out - still, kept us busy for an hour or two, :hihi:
BobbyBunny 09-09-2008, 09:35 I'll be texting you for updates! :D We're still in Childrens, hopefully not for much longer as Tegan is three weeks old now (:|) but I will definately come to see the new little one when he's nice and fresh if I'm welcome :D
honeyb35 09-09-2008, 13:56 any news???
None, it's driving me mad!
OK, so Cosy is labouring, or if not it hurts a lot for someone who isn't labouring.
EET after 9pm but before 7am tomorrow.
I'm guessing for 12.31 tonight.
How exciting. I've never even met Cosy but I'm always on here checking who's had their babies! I hope she has the birth she wants.
honeyb35 09-09-2008, 19:04 Its gotta be today!! My friends getting married this day next year, they can share special days :hihi:

Weight, if I have the news right, is 6lb 13oz. Which must be a shocker to the CosyDen since Cosycub was a whopper almost matching my twins weight combined!
honeyb35 10-09-2008, 17:44 wow a teeny!! well its teeny compared to the sizes of mine :hihi:
cosywolf 10-09-2008, 18:36 thanks all! a quick update from the hospital...so very quick. i'll be sureto give you a better account soon.
wolfcub does indeed weigh a measley 6lbs 13oz...a full 4lbs less than his brother's birthweight. turns out theplacenta was indeed seriously compromised, so i'm very glad he wasinduced when he was. apparently it wasn'tnice.

cosywolf 15-09-2008, 22:30 thanks everyone, he truly is gorgeous. He and his brother are certainly keeping me busy though. Will try and tell the whole gory story tomorrow
LilMissAlien 16-09-2008, 00:48 Looking forward to it Cosy, and thanks for letting me have a cuddle today! It was the first thing I was gushing about to my partner when I got in! He offered the opportunity to have another whenever I want - perhaps not for another couple of years, no matter how much your gorgeous little one makes me broody!
And I'm still chuckling over Cosycub's "Do you want to stroke my baby?"
BobbyBunny 16-09-2008, 21:57 Congrats hun :)
cosywolf 19-09-2008, 21:32 Hi guys, so sorry for the absence. I've been soooo busy and soooo tired, I'd forgotten how exhausting this whole baby lark can be. Followed by a baby blues smackdown. Why do we do this all, again? :)
Well, as promised, the birth story in a nutshell:
Turned up on Tuesday 9th at 9am at the Labour Ward for my induction, waited an hour before being looked at. Turned out I was already 2cm dilated, so they wouldn't give me the prostin, but decided to break my waters instead. Which would have been fine, but...you guessed it, a sudden run on women in labour meant no free midwives. How rude!:P Waited (again) in the aptly named waiting room for 2 more hours, then got sent to Whirlow ward to, err, wait some more.
Finally at 4.30/5pm they came got us and sent us back down to Labour. My waters were broken at 7pm, and never stopped leaking again. Reckon i know why my belly was so big...I never knew anything could hold that much liquid, we were paddling in it! :gag:
I politely proceeded to go into labour like a good lass, but despite the pain my good humour worked against me - people kept coming in and saying 'you're far too happy to be in active labour' or 'nope, too cheerful, not in enough pain'...so finally I was convinced to have an epidural and got the syntocin drip.
Problem with the epidural was: turns out I have a nasty case of White Coat Syndrome when it comes to men holding needles they want to stick in my back. Every time the poor anaesthetist came near me, my blood pressure dropped to the floor and I pretty much passed out.:hihi:. So despite the fact that my vital signs were fine whenever he left the room and my MW and doc insisted he top me up, he refused...so the epidural was ineffective - which got very meaningful later...
Long story short, it finally came time to push. But though i was fully dilated, this little wolfcub decided to swim straight back up the birth canal in the wrong direction i.e. up, not down, and no amount of coaxing would bring him back down. Maddening little mooch
Then his heartrate started to tumble...and we were 'rushed' (it seemed to take hours) to the operating theatre for an assisted birth or c-section. Remember the epidural? This is about the time I started begging for a truckload...a c-section? He was so ginger about giving me enough that I maintain I was never numb enough to be cut open:help:
This is your one chance! they told me, shoving the ventouse in, push! Push now! And I obligingly....turned and vomited all over my husband:hihi:
I was gutted, thought I'd lost my final chance for a vbac...but no, miraculously they cried Push again! and I did, and out he popped...all 6lbs 13oz of him, hoorah! Not breathing, but they whisked him away and got him sorted.
I was under the needle for another hour, as I was ripped all ways from sunday (cue irate rants at them to get a move on, lmao). The final twist was the placenta. We thought we'd gotten away with it, but it was in fact impressively degraded. They kept wanting to show it to me, but thanks anyway.
And that is how I popped out Wolfcub, a little cutie, exactly 4 whole lbs lighter than his brother's birth weight. :)
Not for long...you should see his giant hands and feet...and just now he ate 5oz of milk in one go, 8 days old...making up for lost time, lol
SpeedDemon 19-09-2008, 22:34 wow! speedy 5 is only on 5oz bottles now and she's 15 weeks! Great story Cosy - glad you got the vbac you wanted :)
BobbyBunny 22-09-2008, 14:40 Glad you got the birth you planned :D The theatre at Jessops scares me lol! Tegan's on 5oz bottles now and she's 5 weeks lol but she's been on them since about two weeks I think..
