Has anyone else recognised the song on one of the latest tv adverts as Sheffield's very own Jilted John's "Gordon is a Moron"? I loved that song as a kid! Went to see John Shuttleworth a.k.a. Jilted John at the Crucible last year. Absolutely hilarious.

Can't remember what the ad is for - kids in a garden throwing a ball I think. The only lyrics you hear are "here we go .... two three four", but it's unmistakably him.

I've been walking round humming it all day! "she is cruel and heartless, to pack me for Gordon, just cus he's better looking than me, just cus he's cool and trendy"

I commented to my BF last night that there would be a whole generation of people who involuntarily put the 'here we go.... two, three, four' in at the right place of that ad.

Funnily enough, someone came up to me last night and asked me to play it.

She was very cute, so I obliged :hihi:

John Shuttleworth is on at City Hall in December, we've had our tickets for ages! I'll have to look out for this advert.

Word is that the Tory Party are considering using the "Gordon is a moron" line in their next party political broadcast.

Yep, soon as I heard the riff and "Here we go 2-3-4" I was up in the loft rummaging around my vinyl collection. I tracked it down and the memories came flooding back. I'd forgotten how good the B side was though; "Going Steady". Reflecting on the 2 tracks now shows just how good parodies of teenage life they were

I didn't really like Jilted John (Graham Fellowes), but I did like him as John Shuttleworth .. very dry and comical, the sort of humour you can appreciate without laughing out loud.

"Yeah yeah I love Sharon, yeah yeah she loves me, yeah yeah we love each other a-and we're so happy!!!!" I remember a bus-shelter and babysitting came into it somewhere too!

Lady Rathbon hates that song because she was seeing a bloke called Gordon when it came out. Soon after, everywhere they went people who knew him would go up to them singing "Gordon is a moron!" and she got so fed up with it she dumped him.

Still, his loss, my gain. I'm just relieved that John Shuttleworth picked the name Gordon rather than Basil.

Here we go 2-3-4 :D

"On Wednesday Sharon goes babysitting
For her mum's friend Mrs Higgins
I go with her to watch telly
The kids are horrible and the house is dead smelly
But it's all worth it 'cause when they've gone to bed
We start snogging on the sofa"

"Then on Saturday night we go
To the bus shelter at the end of the road
We sit in it and mess about
And then we go and buy some chips"

Classic :hihi:
