I was told my cat had Gingivitus last time we went to the vet and she now got it again, only thing is ....since i've lost my job, i can't really afford to take her:blush::blush::blush:
I'm so ashamed to say it. She's been in and out of the vets in the 3 years we've had her and she's been tested for everything under the sun and i've spent hundreds of pounds, but we are no closer to finding out what's wrong.

I think she has "something" (weak immune system) and when she gets stressed or run down or tired, her immune system gives up and she gets "a cold" or her mouth flares up.
Currently she is salivating a lot and her breath is completely rank, she can't groom herself properly but is eating fine(!) and is ok in herself.

My question is....is there anything i can buy /do apart from the vets to help her?:(

I've seen this with lots of cats at the Shelter and we've never found anything other than veterinary help which can sort it out.

However, there is a solution which should mean that you reduce the amount of vet visits and hopefully improve your cat's quality of life too- ask the vet to take her teeth out.

There were a few cats in the Shelter who had gingivitis so severe that there was no option for them other than a lifetime of treatment, vet visits and steroids- or having their teeth taken out so that they didn't have any plaque to have a reaction to.

The committee and wardens thought long and hard about it before the first cat went for the operation, but it really did make a difference to their lives and they didn't need any more treatment after that. A couple of months down the line their gums had hardened up and they were eating dry food again and you would have never known that they had no teeth.

Wow, really?!
I would like her to keep her teeth and am aware that the longer i'm leaving her with a poorly mouth, the worse she'll get.

Does anyone know what the conditions are of visiting the pdsa?
