Can anybody help with me with information about the famous Sheffield handicap sprint race which used to take place at the Sheaf House Fields for a first prize of £100 (or guineas)?
My grandfather, Joe Edwards, of Derby, who was a professional sprinter (and publican!)won the race in 1884 and again in 1890.
