Hello all,
Just writing regarding whether anyone knows whether it is possible to have a rescue kitten in a first floor apartment.

I live in a small aprtment block on wadsley park village. And have owned a burmese who was an indoor cat, however sadly she passed away a few months ago.

I am wanting to get a rescue kitten/cat but wondered whether this is possible.

I work part time. so have plenty of time to give a new cat.

Thanks

My OH had a rescue cat in a first floor flat, but the cat was an old one which was to be kept indoors preferably..

I don't know of any rescue which would have problems with cats being indoor only cats. As long as the new owner has the time and the will to provide sufficient attention, love and entertainment for the new beastie then being an indoor cat is really not a problem (providing you aren't banned from keeping animals in your flat, of course).

In fact, there are lots of cats who need to be kept indoors for some reason. Deaf cats, cats with disabilities, cats of a very nervous disposition and a large number of feral cats or cats which have previously lived rough are all unsuitable for going outdoors- but most places will not refuse a cat to someone who wishes to keep a cat indoors, unless the cat is known to want to be outdoors and it is obvious that they will struggle with staying indoors only.

EDIT- at least one of the litter that I've currently got for homing will be going to a flat and I don't have the least problem with that. As far as I'm concerned cats can live in a one bedroomed flat providing they have plenty of entertainment and interest.

Shouldn't see it being a problem. A kitten could be brought up as an indoor cat and i'm sure the rescues are full of cats wanting a peacefull indoor life. Besides you can get a screen for windows and doors to stop pets going out so they can still get some fresh air:D
