Oh my god! I just said to my friend that I hoped he'd get knocked out in the first and within 30secs he did! I don't know why but I don't like him and I really fancied the Columbian to win even though most didn't. Wish I'd put a couple of quid on it! Kingmaker2 07-09-2008, 12:33 AM Did anyone watch this tonight? Oh my god! I just said to my friend that I hoped he'd get knocked out in the first and within 30secs he did! I don't know why but I don't like him and I really fancied the Columbian to win even though most didn't. Wish I'd put a couple of quid on it! Shame the ITV audience didn't get to watch it!;) anniec 07-09-2008, 12:34 AM It was on pay per view but I didn't pay the £15 to watch it thankfully. I think i'd have been gutted otherwise! Nimrod 07-09-2008, 12:36 AM Might do him a bit of good, stop him becoming a spoilt brat like nazeem. Nazeem lived a charmed life, him and Frank Warren carefully selecting 'suitable' opponents. *carrie* 07-09-2008, 12:37 AM I like Amir Khan. He's a lovely northern lad and this is such a shame :( Tarquin 07-09-2008, 12:37 AM It was on pay per view but I didn't pay the £15 to watch it thankfully. I think i'd have been gutted otherwise! £15 for 55 seconds:o scarby 07-09-2008, 12:39 AM Bit of a cocky bugger though, don't you think? Maybe his first Knockout will teach him to be a bit more precautious? Kingmaker2 07-09-2008, 12:40 AM It was on pay per view but I didn't pay the £15 to watch it thankfully. I think i'd have been gutted otherwise! Let's put it this way after watching ITV's Big Fight Live.....why would the average Joe now want to fork up £15 for something he got free last time out. It's a suprise result since the Columbian Prescott had only faced very poor opposition up till now, even though he had a good KO ratio. anniec 07-09-2008, 12:41 AM i agree, I do like the down to earth fighter, Rick Hatton is brilliant. I just don't get a nice feeling when hearing Amir speaking. He seems a bit to big for his boots imo. I do feel a bit sorry for him though he really got a beating. Hey ho, may teach him humility arachnophobe 07-09-2008, 12:42 AM Did anyone watch this tonight? Oh my god! I don't know why but I don't like him and I really fancied the Columbian to win even though most didn't. Wish I'd put a couple of quid on it! Wish it had been on ITV. It was only a matter of time before he had a real test though... after all he has been well protected since the Athens olympics. I'm just suprised it was this guy! Kingmaker2 07-09-2008, 12:45 AM Wish it had been on ITV. It was only a matter of time before he had a real test though... after all he has been well protected since the Athens olympics. But even this "test" was carefully picked as Prescott had a good KO record but nearly all of Prescotts 17 KO victims were as they say "tomato cans" 9 of Prescotts previous opponents had a total combined win record of 0!;) arachnophobe 07-09-2008, 12:46 AM But even this "test" was carefully picked as Prescott had a good KO record but nearly all of Prescotts 17 KO victims were as they say "tomato cans" 9 of Prescotts previous opponents had a total combined win record of 0!;) See my last sentence. ;) Kingmaker2 07-09-2008, 12:48 AM It may not be the only sporting shock this weekend. Nadal is currently losing 2 sets to Nil in his Semi Final match with Andy Murray at the US open in New York. Thankfully for Nadal a certain young lady called Hannah stopped play.;) arachnophobe 07-09-2008, 12:51 AM Ooh I like upsets. And hopefullly the Khan fight (what little there was of it) will be on Youtube tomorrow! :D CorkerSWFC 07-09-2008, 12:56 AM Watched it for free and glad i did, but saying that i wouldnt have been that fussed paying for a "real" moment in British sport, a lot of people had high hopes for Amir and seeing his chin wobble like it did on the replay has definatly showed that his chin is made of glass. chaddsuk 07-09-2008, 12:57 AM It was a matter of time before Amir got knocked out, he has been caught on a number of occasions already in his short career even though the quality of fighters he has faced have mostly been second rate. Im glad they put him in with this guy and that he got knocked out, it shows you the recent hype surrounding British sportsmen is exactly that...Hype. Amir is already a millionaire and he's not really beat anyone as yet, someone explain to me how that works?...the Colombian guy was hungry and had genuine power, good on him. And by the way, Nasim Hamed was twice the fighter Amir is, at least nasim knew how to keep his chin out of the way....and remember he was never knocked out.. Kingmaker2 07-09-2008, 01:00 AM Sounds like the effects of Prescott's punches haven' quite worn off! "That's boxing. One punch can change the fight. I'm fine but I need to go back to the drawing board and put it right." So Khan thinks that he was winning the first 15 seconds of the fight and then Prescotts punch turned it around!:hihi: What's the betting there will be a rematch soon? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/boxing/7598723.stm CorkerSWFC 07-09-2008, 01:23 AM World champions get up from being knocked out, the first time Amir got buckled it should have been stopped he was all over the shop. Seconds later he got severly dealt with, if there was a rematch i think the same would happen Khan has got a glass chin simple as. Kingmaker2 07-09-2008, 01:40 AM World champions get up from being knocked out, the first time Amir got buckled it should have been stopped he was all over the shop. Seconds later he got severly dealt with, if there was a rematch i think the same would happen Khan has got a glass chin simple as. Do you see Haye going the same way? And did Fraudley impress or fail tonight? mr craig 07-09-2008, 01:51 AM Khan has got a glass chin simple as. I couldn't agree more. I like Amir, i think he works the press well, looks on paper like he could beat anyone. I'm hoping that he can learn a lot from tonight, his chin is weak, i hoped the fight against Willie Limond would have taught him that. He's a good boxer, weather the comparisons with nas make him try to aspire to much who knows. I don't care for Nassem as a person, but he was one hell of a boxer and i don't think Khan is anywhere near. Kingmaker2 07-09-2008, 02:08 AM He's a good boxer, weather the comparisons with nas make him try to aspire to much who knows. I don't care for Naseem as a person, but he was one hell of a boxer and i don't think Khan is anywhere near. Naseem was a good boxer, but there were warning signs from his Kevin Kelly fight ,that he might struggle should he face a world class boxer like Barrera or Morales. If Naseem ever fought Morales I suspect he would have lost. So Naseem was good but at the time he fought Barerra he was probably only the 3rd best behind Barrera and Morales. As for Khan, he definitely has talent and time will tell whether Prescott actually proves to be the "real dea"l or whether Khan just underestimated Prescott's power and got careless. mr craig 07-09-2008, 02:17 AM I've just watched the fight again a Khan got schooled, seriously. I'm surprised he managed to get up from the first knock down. Kingmaker2 07-09-2008, 02:30 AM For those who haven't seen it here's some footage: http://www.blinkx.com/video/prescott-knocks-out-amir-khan/OYC7EQs3Q7MBuM11K4tigQ Hands down no defence! A very basic mistake, he definitely underestimated Prescott's power. happyhippy 07-09-2008, 02:40 AM But even this "test" was carefully picked as Prescott had a good KO record but nearly all of Prescotts 17 KO victims were as they say "tomato cans" 9 of Prescotts previous opponents had a total combined win record of 0!;) Oh, I don't know .... Getting geared up (http://www.whiskyclassified.com/JohnPrescott.jpg) In action, and a KO! I have no idea why people are comparing the two to be honest. Putting Amir on PPV for this fight was crazy as well. Will anyone even bother next time? Kingmaker2 07-09-2008, 04:47 AM Amir is no Nassem and never will be. I have no idea why people are comparing the two to be honest. Putting Amir on PPV for this fight was crazy as well. Will anyone even bother next time? You'll know how they will build it up though, Khan's comeback fight, "do or die," "now or never" "Make or Break" "last chance saloon",blah blah blah. They kept doing that with Fraudley.....until they found out that he really wasn't that good!:hihi: Bladesman 07-09-2008, 05:00 AM Thank god I didnt let me dad pay for this fight. I had a feeling Khan would get what was coming to him and I am glad we didnt waste £15 for 55 seconds. Khan very over rated and finally someone has gone and proved it. Maybe he will come back and prove me wrong but I very much doubt it. Anyone know if the Audley "the next big thing for the last 8 years" Harrison won? Kingmaker2 07-09-2008, 05:36 AM Anyone know if the Audley "the next big thing for the last 8 years" Harrison won? Yep he won, no knock downs, no stoppage. The crowd largely booed......kinda tells you all you need to know!:hihi: Although Fraudley will come up with his usual, I'm ready to take the belts from Sam Peter or Klitschko line.:hihi::hihi::hihi: Bladesman 07-09-2008, 05:43 AM Although Fraudley will come up with his usual, I'm ready to take the belts from Sam Peter or Klitschko line.:hihi::hihi::hihi: Hey one day maybe he will. Just cant wait for the news story "Audley gets desperate and robs Klitschko's house" :hihi::hihi::hihi: Bazooka 07-09-2008, 05:43 AM Full Fight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8yN5LRIm_8) Don't blink :D Thanks for that KJ. I did not book the fight as felt the £15 was not worth it as Amir is not going up against someone for a major world title etc. The problem is that AMir has a glassy chin- and that is always going to be on his mind (as well as his opponents). I do think he will have to learn defending himself, hand up etc.. at the highest quality (hence why he should have picked Floyd Mayweather Snr for the trainer's role). Bazooka 07-09-2008, 05:45 AM You'll know how they will build it up though, Khan's comeback fight, "do or die," "now or never" "Make or Break" "last chance saloon",blah blah blah. They kept doing that with Fraudley.....until they found out that he really wasn't that good!:hihi: I bet sky are thinking : "****, that was not what we had in mind" All that build up to his first outing on box office and BOOM. Khan says he will come back stronger, I am sure he will, but can you make a glassy chin stronger too?? No. Kingmaker2 07-09-2008, 05:56 AM Hey one day maybe he will. Just cant wait for the news story "Audley gets desperate and robs Klitschko's house" :hihi::hihi::hihi: Good one!:hihi: But he won't get convicted of that crime......... hell no he'd be sent down for embezzling funds from the TV licence payer, and be ordered to give up his mansion in LA, and hand back all £1 million. The Judge said on announcing the sentence: "They don't call you Fraudley for nothing you know!:hihi::hihi::hihi: happyhippy 07-09-2008, 07:15 AM Full Fight (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8yN5LRIm_8) Don't blink :D Thanks for that KJ. Murdered. Absolutely murdered. Heyesey 07-09-2008, 07:48 AM Khan says he will come back stronger, I am sure he will, but can you make a glassy chin stronger too?? No. But he might now start to defend it; something he's never bothered to do, since until now the guys who've smacked him on it weren't strong enough to make it pay. At least now he knows he'll actually have to box instead of just turning up and rolling over people. pk014b7161 07-09-2008, 09:30 AM I bet sky are thinking : "****, that was not what we had in mind" i bet warren was thinking on those same lines the_rudeboy 07-09-2008, 10:13 AM But he might now start to defend it; something he's never bothered to do, since until now the guys who've smacked him on it weren't strong enough to make it pay. At least now he knows he'll actually have to box instead of just turning up and rolling over people.Thats what his new coach has supposedly been working on. Khan is a great offensive boxer but just can't take a punch. I think this could well be the beginning of the end. Bazooka 07-09-2008, 11:00 AM Oh well, look on the 'bright side'...at least Audley harrison won:D ...don't think the crowd even noticed. Bazooka 07-09-2008, 11:15 AM I bet sky are thinking : "****, that was not what we had in mind" i bet warren was thinking on those same lines I am sure of that too. But Warren is shrewd enough to keep selling the Amir Khan phenomenon- its his current golden ticket until he finds a new star. ANyway, Amir is young and teachable, so I think he will come back a bit more wiser. I just don't like it when he talks about 'legendary' or 'world beater status like Naseem use to- Naseem never made it to that level and Amir is a long long way from it.. especially now. "I made a little mistake in there and couldn't get it back again. It was a stupid mistake," Khan told BBC Five Live. "That's boxing. One punch can change the fight. I'm fine but I need to go back to the drawing board and put it right. "I'm a world beater and I'm going to come back stronger. I'm really sorry to my fans." The decision to take this dangerous opponent (now 20-0, 18 KOs) was apparently taken by Rubio, but Warren refused to blame him after the bout. "I've got to take responsibility for it," said Warren. "This guy was recommended by the new trainer but ultimately I take responsibility and it's back to the drawing board. "He was caught cold. We knew this guy was a dangerous puncher. He's not the first fighter to be beat and come back to win world titles. It's how you come back from it." http://www.setantasports.com/en/Sport/News/Other-sports/2008/09/07/Boxing-Khan-I-will-be-back/?facets/sport-space/great-britain-locale/boxing/ pk014b7161 07-09-2008, 11:58 AM i came in from the kitchen with a cuppa & a couple of digestive biscuits sat down to watch the fight ,the digestive lasted longer than khan ,mindst you he went down with style like a bag of **** Bazooka 07-09-2008, 01:48 PM i came in from the kitchen with a cuppa & a couple of digestive biscuits sat down to watch the fight ,the digestive lasted longer than khan ,mindst you he went down with style like a bag of **** :hihi: I tuned into the radio- and after the intros I must have dozed off for a few minutes, when I awoke I think it was already the 2nd knock down and next minute the fight was over.
