Try asking at Parklands, they might know of something available.
How old is your neice?
How many lessons has she had?
Is she off the lead rein?
Is she confident?
Make sure she is insured. Rider only insurance is only £7 a month or so but well worth it.
Make sure there is a loan contract set up to denote who is responsible for what, and if anything bad happens etc.

I would recommend that your neice attend some horse management courses before taking on a pony as they are one big responsibilty. The financial and general care commitment is massive.
I think Rother Valley College at Dinnington still do courses. How old is your neice will she be taking sole responsibility or will the parents be involved, are they experienced?
I hope they have pots of cash, cos they will need it trust me.:hihi:

If she wants to come and get her hands dirty or experience horse ownership - let me know.
We're only in the village.
Parklands used to "allow" children to go on a Sunday to learn how to muck out etc, they didn'y pay but Parklands got all there horses mucked out etc for free.

If she's only 6 then I'd be looking towards a small native type... Dartmoor, Welsh A/B/Mountain pony, Exmoor or even a standard Shetland (they're not all bad, same as any other breed:))...
Are her parents horsey? It will make a big difference.
I'll pm you.
