I had an email today from Film Education inviting me to a free screening of the screen version of John Boyne's fantastic novel. There were several locations available, all in the Cineworld chain but Sheffield wasn't one of them! It's a real shame as it doesn't make it worthwhile to drive to Nottingham to pick up the tickets and then go to the screening.
Is there a reason only some Cineworld locations have a free screening? Is it up to the individual management of the cinema, or is the distributor?
:)

It is up to the distributor as to which sites offer the screenings. They only have a limited number of prints available for the special showings, and we were not chosen in Sheffield to screen them.
We will be showing the film as normal on release (and having seen a 15 minute preview at a film day a good while back I seriously cannot wait).

Looking forward to this one, I find films about Nazi Germany and also the DDR really interesting!

i think this film might be too sentimental, even for me! trailer was half good, half cheese!
undecided. shame there are no free screenings. seem to be getting fewer in sheffield :( next one is death race for me.
I'm undecided too. :( The "what-ho!" English accents in the film trailer sort of put me off, but I think it looks like it could be good.
Hmmm, what to do? Could it be another film meet maybe?

I find that we have more free screenings than the past years nowadays. It is rare a week goes by without us running a 'Seefilmfirst' screening of something (and on some weeks we have had 2 and even three). I believe that Odeon have a screening with seefilmfirst tomorrow night (Tuesday) of Boy In Striped Pyjamas. We didn't get it at Cineworld as we have the Pineapple Express screening instead.
The trailer for the film doesn't do the film justice. Especially as cineworld are showing it digitally. :D
ive been to see this film. it was ok but the book was better.
