Just curious, why do you want to do a bicycle maintenance course, and what are you mainly interested in acheiving?

Bicycles aren't complicated so its worth just building up your tool collection as you need it and stripping your bike down as often as you can.

I've never had to use a torque wrench on a bike, just tight and quarter to half a turn extra.

The main thing shops look for nowadays are wheel builders. I used to work for the old AB Wheels shop on london rd years ago and loved it. I would love to get back into building wheels. Get yourself a wheel building jig and a dishing tool and start playing, just make sure their all made by Park Tools.

Have you tried pedal pushers. A cyclists group in Sheffield, they had bike check points in town last year.

There's a place just off City Rd (industrial estate opposite Granville Rd) that build wheels. Maybe worth giving them a ring if you want to get back in to it ;) Personally i was only any good at truing wheels. Lacing all those spokes together in different patterns scrambled my brain :?

I always build my own,but its starting the lacing off that gets confusing,
just regreased both hubs, headset, and bottom bracket, theres nothing like it, comin back in the house hands covered in grease and oil and ......what was that on the tyre......:gag:

WOW.....I haven't re-greased a B/B since the early 90's when sealed B/Brackets became the norm :o

I feel i have a rear hub re-grease coming on. I have a suspicious 'knocking' noise when under pressure. I hope the cups aren't pitted :suspect:
