I think places like Clarks and startrite are the only ones who do shoes with different width fittings. There is a Clarks at Crystal Peaks & also I believe at Meadowhell. Hope that helps :)
We go (have just been today actually) to Twinkle Toes on Abbey Lane in Woodseats. I always feel they measure my little ones feet well. The shoes are quite expensive but they are Startrite ones, which are what we have got today, but they also sell continental makes, which we got last time he had a pair. Apparently continental makes are not width fitted but in the shop they knew which ones were suited to wide feet and checked the fit on my son's foot.
We go to Meadowhall (best for me to get too) and Clarks have always been good with measuring. There has only been 1 instance they did measure him too small, but I took him back (after noticing he didn't want to walk) & they gave full refund on shoes and money off next pair I bought. Some of the assistants are a bit brassy, but most are good with kids & have been good with us.
I always get Clarks, as my 2 yr old has very wide feet, so it's a case of I can't go to Jonathon James or any of others after measuring him, as they are too narrow. Tried this last time for cheap summer shoes and they are just too tight on him.
Saying that the shoes still look good after all the bashing, so I find them good.
I did try the clinks one at Meadowhall and I found the assistants didn't seem to be sure about measuring his feet properly and the shoes (some are Clarks) just seem alot of money for what I'd class as not good shoes - just 'showey ones'.:)

My 10 year old son has never been able to choose a pair of shoes. He has the pair that fits. Clarks only do one H fitting trainer, and if they don't have his size then we don't have new shoes for him.
I went into Clark's this week and said to the lad serving that we may be there some time, and that I refused to leave the shop without new shoes :hihi:
My son measures 3.5H in his left foot and 4H in his right. We ended up with 5.5H after much effort. Even they aren't wide enough, and he noted on the receipt that they are self fit. This happens every time we want shoes and I dread the day that he doesn't fit into any.

I've had the same problem with my youngest but have found that leather trainers fit the best. He's 12 now and is into size 11 shoes. He's growing fast and soon will overtake his 16 year old brother. I can't get posh shoes that fit that I can afford. The schools on a uniform kick and wants to ban trainers. I've explained to the school that I'm lucky if I get any pair of shoes that fits. Socks are a problem too. I have to buy them off Ebay as most shops don't sell many if any that will fit. Sometimes the market has bigfoot socks but the school has even laid down specific colours for P.E and general wear. It's a nightmare. The older brother is in the same size approximately but not so wide a fitting so its only socks that are the problem. There are 3 males in the household who need 11 plus socks so I buy them in bulk from Ebay.

Twinkle Toes also have a branch at Fulwood, opporsite the Co-op, they are fab.. or for more choice the little specialist shop in the Sharrowvale shops, opp. Hunters Bar schools.
Both of those do fittings and carry a large specialist stock, although not cheap!
