After a little bit of advice,

Live in s6 and our "free" childminding is probably about to be coming to an end, my girlfriend's mum is getting a job!

Our girl has just started school and we'd be looking for someone to pick her up and then look after her for i'd say, 3 to 3.5 hours every day, possibly excluding friday's

We live about 300 metres from the school, is this a reasonable request, and does anyone know roughly how much we can expect to pay for such a service? I've read the starter threads about checking people out etc.

I think its safe to say, we have to be 100% about whoever we were to choose for this.

Thanks, and sorry if this is an often asked question, I did scroll back a few pages and couldn't find anything particular that wasn't an old thread.

have u looked into after school clubs at your local nursery these can often be cheaper and most nurserys do school collections free of charge or the school might run an after school club

There might be an after school club at your daughters school and if not there is likely to be one which will collect from her school.
If not, a childminder sounds like your best option.
Check the Ofsted website for childminders reports in your area or Ask SID.
Good luck and let us know what you do, it's always good to have extra knowledge about these things here in parenting.
