although it's a bit late in the day for this... wouldn't it be great if people just voted for who they would like to win!
i'm fed up with hearing people at work today saying they'd like to vote for this party and that party but won't because they'll never get in and so they are going to vote to keep one of the main contenders out or just aren't bothering.
just going out to vote now and hopefully when the results come in there might be a few surprises around the country tonight... we need a bit of a shake up!

Most voters in this country are not politically astute enough to know what their voting for in the first place. There is a small section of society who seem to be becoming more clued up with politics but on the whole people vote for a specific party because "their parents did" or they agree with just one of their chosen parties claims, they dont look at the long term effects of election.

Yes I agree with the last post, most people vote because their parents did so they do the same.
No wonder the labour party are so smug.

The only reason i voted was becasue if you don't vote its a waste and if you do vote, it 2 is a waste. But i may aswell have a little say.

But there really is only 2 main partys to vote for, cos lets face it.... Lib Dems will never get in. (who were the other partys!!)

I do sincerely hope this statement is proved untrue ... otherwise I have simply wasted years and untold hours of my life working to that end ... I always have a sneaking feeling that people who constantly make that statement are from other parties, whistling in the dark ...

Trying to change the status quo isn't something that can be done overnight ... well, not without a revolution! Year on year, we've seen our hard work pay off in reduced majorities for Labour and Tory and increased support for us. After all, we are the only real opposition to Labour in the country ... they and the Conservatives are merely two sides of the same coin ... in the case of this Government, almost the same side of the same coin :P

true... I hope it can be proven wrong aswell, but for this election Lib Dems would just not be able to do it.

They need vurtually every seat to even come close, which lets face it, isn't going to happen.

Maybe in a few years it will, but not today.
They need to lift their campaign, cos to me they are virtually unheard of.

I think having Kennedy at the helm has limited the impact the Lib Dems could have made. He appears childlike and politically immature. Nothing like the authoritative leaders of the other two main parties.

The lib dems wont win a general election until the voting system is changed to a P R one,and thats not going to happen is is?
Lets face it millions of votes will count for nothing when this election is over, they will have been disenfranchised by the system.
We dont have true democracy its a fallacy to think we do.

Just seen this old thread and how times have changed.

I still believe the title to be true though if nothing else.
It really is important that we all get out and vote, particularly as the 6th May will also be a national election, so it is very important that people also realise that there are local elections taking place also.
