.... Council flat that is! What are the good/bad points of the area? Is the estate very rough?

my son and daughter in law and their family live on those flats.

benefits?

"2 minutes" walk from town
close to frequent bus services. (on Washington Rd and London Road)
close to vibrant life that is London Road
varied and vibrant community,
good community spirit chools close by
convenient for both universities.

doctors and schools nearby
waitrose almost opposite so very convenient

drawbacks

poor, typically boxy 1960's construction, so they don't look "fantastic"
can be noisy if your neighbours are inconsiderate
they have a "reputation" (not entirely deserved) of being "rough"

there are "worse" areas to live in. Go and have a look and get a feel of the area. I live a bit higher up the hill from them, and it's not that bad an area round here. I certainly have no qualms about being in this area.

There have been a lot of burglaries on these flats. I used to run the pub down the road and heard many complaints about break ins from customers.

There is a strong ethnic mix in the flats and parking is limited - most spaces are taken, so you're probably going to be on the road.

i live in the flats there and i enjoy it there. its a very close community everone knows eachother. there are schools close, london road is just a few minutes walk away, and town is very close! it is also on a bus route the 22 which come about every half an hour if you cant be bothered to walk to town

it is sometimes thought of as a bad area becuase its is council flats and alot of people are placed by social there when they are on benefits. its is not all that bad really!

there have been a few incidents but arnt there in every area?!

you should come and have a look round for yourself see what you think if you pop into the local shops they might have a few things to say about the area.
