Can anyone tell me where this is? I know where St Matthew's is on Carver Street but can't think of another church in that area... my polling station is there today.

View Full Version : Carver Street Methodist Church? ShefSoul05 05-05-2005, 09:12 Can anyone tell me where this is? I know where St Matthew's is on Carver Street but can't think of another church in that area... my polling station is there today. Hopman 05-05-2005, 12:51 I think it may be at the top of Carver Street, but as it isn't a long road, it shouldn't take long to find it. cgksheff 05-05-2005, 13:28 T'internet says that it is at Number 2.:) feargal 05-05-2005, 13:33 Isn't there a church at the fire station end of Carver Street? I think it's between the firemen and the glass offices, although I may be completely wrong. A.B.Yaffle 05-05-2005, 14:32 Carver Street Methodist Church closed a few years ago and is now the Walkabout Inn pub, on the corner of Carver Street and West Street. ShefSoul05 05-05-2005, 14:56 I realise the Church is now closed. I eventually found the polling station earlier today. For those who have to vote at this polling station, it is in the Methodist Church Hall, which is actually on Rockingham Lane - not at all easy to find!!! Polling stations should be far more easy to access than this one. Up loads of stairs and round the back of some yard down an alley...... MrH 05-05-2005, 19:55 I voted there today. I thought I knew Sheffield City Centre reasonably well, but it took me ages to find it. It was badly signposted, not very near Carver Street at all. The car park had big signs saying you would get clamped if you park there - so it cost me 65p parking to exercise my democratic right! The polling room was up a flight of stairs - not at all accessible. And then they wonder why there is a low turnout - I'm sure many people changed their minds before they got there. Have they no spare rooms in the town hall they can use? |
