I lived on Willow Drive and went to Athelstan and Brook. I remember Mssrs Footit and Aizlewood. Went outward bound with them one memorable week in Derbyshire. Mr Footit still teaches at Handsworth Grange. I left school in 78 and moved to London soon after. Am glad to b back up here tho - no comparison! There's lots of people on Friends Reunited.

He was known to many as Poppa Smurf, not hard to see why because of his big beard and being small in height, if you got on the wrong side of him you knew about it.

Miss Merredith.
By my working out she's got to be going on for 90.

I went there in 75 Kirky, I wondered why I couldn't remember you. I think you would be one of those special children that stay in the mind.

I was at Brook, left 1966. I remember lots of people from there and still see some of them. Would like to contact Richard (Dick) Smith who left the same time as me. Dick was a good goalkeeper and I think played for Sheffield boys. Pity the old school has gone in some ways, though looking back not sure it was "fit for purpose"

I went to Athelstan infant and junior schools until 1967 then Beaver Hill, leaving in1972. Lived on Ballifield estate and had a lot of friends in Woodhouse. We used to fight with St John Fishers school. The oak house used to serve up great fish and chips, we ate them out of the paper walking down Handsworth road after a night out.

I went to Brook left in 1960 my husband went to Athelstan and Brook he also left in 1960 .Best years of I lives I suppose although we didn't think so at the time. We both thought that Stokes was the best teacher he was strict but fair. Remember Kenedy He was a laugh another one I can't remember his name threw a blackboard rubber at me for talking and I saw it coming and put the desk top up and it hit that instead of me it caused a riot think now his name was Jeffs does that ring any bells.:hihi:
