We have a two seater sofa + 2 sofa chairs to give away, or have taken away. The chairs are in good condition, clean etc, but the 2seater has a spring starting to come through at the back - perhaps it would do for someone - we've been making do with it for the past 5 years lol!

What i want to know, is there anywhere that takes furniture away? I've tried Remar but they can't take them because i don't think there's a label for fire proof - its match proof tho.

Can i ring the council - would they come & take it away? Or hire a van to take them to the tip? Can you take stuff like this to the tip?

Thanks :)

The council will charge you £28 pound to take it away its a little cheaper if you are a council tennant not sure how much could even be free.

Why not place an ad in the Free Ads or in the relevant notice board section of this site. Failing that contact the Council

In the bad old days of the loony left one used to take sofas to the nearest factory gate for the strikers to sit on.

the council will charge £28 to take away up to 10 items. but if you got someone with a van you can just take it to the local tip and throw it in.

Do what most people up here do. Wait until its dark and then take it on to the street and leave it. After a few weeks of being smashed to bits by the kids and plenty of bad weather the sofa will have been reduced to its base components. This process can be used for almost any household item and even entire cars.

D_A_V may be your cheaper option if you're going to hte tip with it. He runs a van-taxi service. Search his posts and you'll find his number
