Hi
I've just joined today on the advice of a lady who i believe is called Zebra who I also understand is a moderator on this forum.

I wanted to thank her for attending our charity event last night 30th Aug in memory of my niece who died from meningitis 6 years ago at the tender age of just 2 yrs 11 months.
Zebra transformed so many of us into beautiful flowers & butterflies with her wonderful face painting talent or in my case a pirate with stubble & scars, which my other half said was a definite improvement. :o

I also wanted to inform Zebra that whilst the donations for the face painting may not have raised as much as we'd have liked given the numerous faces you painted; that the total funds raised on the night in just 4 hours came to an incredible £1300 to add to the £23,000 we've raised to date.

Thankyou once again for helping us to raise much needed funds for the Meningitis Trust and i hope we see you at the next charity event. Thankyou to all members who took the time to read my post.

If anyone would like information about meningitis The Meningitis Trust have a website.

Welcome Rachel, I'm so sorry for your loss, but it is wonderful that you have been able to do something so positive from this. I will be contacting you, but I would really love to lend my support to this cause.

I have had viral meningitis twice now - once at 5 and once at 18. For those of you who don't know about this side of meningitis, it is not fatal, but it can disrupt lives just as much. I lost 60% of my hearing in my left ear, and my peripheral vision in my left eye from having viral meningitis, and this was considered a 'mild' side effect. I have also been left with severe migraines for the past 21 years. Thankfully the attack I had at 18 didn't cause any further brain damage. However I am now hyper vigilant in watching for signs and symptoms in my son.
