hi is there any one out there who has or have had lion head rabbits? i now have one she is 14 weeks old and very cute. Is there anything inparticular that I need to do to look after her fur so her main does not get tanged and dirty.

I have 4 staying here just now and all we have done is brush brush brush as you can't leave them long when they are moulting! They have a lovely temprement though and are friendly, out going and love to binky around. I have a constant hairy teeshirts etc.
Nice rabbits though

I have two lion head rabbits a male and female, both neutered, they are nice rabbits, I brush them with a slicker brush when they are moulting otherwise I don't think that they need any more care than any other rabbit really.

We have a gorgeous little white lionhead called Monty, he hardly seems to moult at all so have been very lucky really, whereas Beryl and Daisy 2 that were boarding here the other week looked like they left a crime scene imprint of themselves wherever they laid

I just brush Hartley once a day, occasionally I will brush her more, like if its been a bit windy when she has been in her run. I dont know whether it should be more, but once seems to be enough. Her fur is not tangled or anything, although we do still get little piles of fur in the hutch every morning from her moulting!

Sexual maturity in a rabbit is usually around 16 weeks, a males testicles generally dont drop until around 3 months but can vary from breed to breed, with Giant breeds dropping later. Best bet is to ask your vet when the best time is for your particular breed of rabbit. Our vet charges £34.95 for neutering or speying and there is no surcharge for larger breeds.
