BBC comedy production giant has died aged 55. (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7589102.stm)

Just read the link to see how many shows he was responsible for. He appeared in front of the cameras for KYTV. But behind the scenes he was huge, this is very sad news. :(

Joe's just told me about this :) - very sad, a real shock.

I always liked him in "KYTV", but he also produced a lot of great programmes, including the first series of "Father Ted"

I know it's daft, but you just don't expect celebrities to die in road traffic accidents.

RIP

That's horrible :(. I first heard of him when I was an early teenager, when he was doing the forerunner of 'KYTV', which was on Radio 4, and called 'Radio Active' (and, I thought, funnier).

He was involved with an Australian number 1 single as well, with Angus Deayton, as part of the "Hee Bee Gee Bees".

I remember the Radio Active "Spycatcher Special", at the time of the Peter Wright book (1987?) as being particularly funny, along with the "Way Hey! It's Saturday!" (kids TV), and the "You And Your Things" (Watchdog) mickey takes being quite inspired too.

Very sad news.

This is truly sad. I'm grateful for many hours of laughter.
