back in the day, it used to be an extra 50p booking fee at jacks, but it's now getting ridiculous

primal scream tickets online...
ticket = £22.50
booking fee = £2.25
'transaction fee' = £4.80
total = £29.55

yep, that's right they're marking a single ticket up by £7.05 or 31%

surely it's going too far? how is that justifiable, or even legal?

any, that's my rant over for the weekend :-D

Couldn't agree more.
I know credit cards charge a percentage, but in no way is it as much as these exhorbitant "fees".
Also, there seems to be no way to get away with paying them, even by cash.
I noticed in Jacks that they have a notice explaining that it isn't them charging the extra costs, but rather the Academy (to name one).

Still only 50p booking fee for the Corp tho.

stick to small bands where you dont even have to buy a ticket up front :)

We got some tickets last year and I resented all the hidden charges, so made my ex buy them from the venue so we'd only pay the actual cost.

I completely agree. Soon it will get to the point where even buying them at the venue will still incur an 'admin charge'.

I'm still unsure as to how buying tickets online can justifiably incur a booking fee, and per ticket at that.

I agree - having got really giddy about the Stereophonics forthcoming tour, I got my ticket the other week - £30 - nearly £35 with extras on and that was each - total extra £9.50 on two tickets. - ridiculous! If I'd waited and gone to the box office i could have saved some money. I know queuing for tickets is rare (it must be 5 years since I've done it now) but there should be a 40% allocation or something guaranteed at the b/o so if you are a true fan you can go and queue. (I'm not sure if there is one) - standing in line for a gig ticket was part of the experience!

Yeah this is something that annoys the heck out of me too !!!!!! But as a passionate music fan, i'm one of the fools who will pay it every time as i HAVE to go to gigs. Its my thing, and these agencies know that it ain't gonna put most of us off :rolleyes:

It's getting uber RIDICULOUS now though..... You get charged (by at least one company, can't recall who at this moment in time) if you book online and request an e-ticket or box office collection !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :mad:

If people are willing to pay , supply and demand will dictate the costs.
