View Full Version : AC/DC: New Material!
leviathan13 29-08-2008, 11:40 Just heard the new song on Radio 2. Whilst it doesn't sound like an all out classic, it is an extremely good effort that I think will grow on me.
Now just have to wait for the album and tour and I will be one happy chappy!!!!
You know you are getting old when:
a>. You hear songs by bands you really like on Radio Two
b>. You actually listen to Radio Two.
I, therefore, will be forever young (I don't own a radio:hihi:)
NEKRO138 29-08-2008, 11:46 Yeah I heard the new single the other day. Sounded ok. I'll be going to see them on tour with the old man if they do one.

I'm nearly 27 and love Radio 2, it's awesome.
I will be getting their new album, although i'm expecting it to be average as i've noticed the do standout albums every decade 1980 - back in black, 1990 - thunderstruck, 2000 stiff upper lip.
anyways good or bad it matters not as the torch has been passed to AIRBOURNE who's recent album is like a 'best of AC/DC (bon scott years) that i've never heard before'.... quite frankly amazing, anyone who likes AC/DC and hasent checked them out will be in for a very pleasant suprise.

Not wanting to be TOO pedantic, but Thunderstruck wasn't an album, it was the 1st track on The Razor's Edge.

yeah..whoops...couldnt remember the name so took a guess, thought there was lighting no the cover and remember it being silver but forgot the title.
still, i loved that album and to me it was a step up in song writing for them, i regularly play 'you shook me all night long' on the geeetar

I also heard Alex Lester playing Rock N Roll Train this morning. Not bad, not bad at all. Just listening again on YouTube.
You Shook Me (All Night Long) I think is one of the all time great rock tunes with great lyrics. A definate nod (pardon the pun) to Slade's Cum On Feel The Noize in the chorus area.
Sorry in advance but what about this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5D2pGsZhbo
NEKRO138 29-08-2008, 12:50 I like Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap best. Or Big Balls because the accent he puts on is hilarious.
Has anyone checked out Airbourne?
I recommend
'cheap wine, cheaper women' and 'diamond in the rough'
NEKRO138 29-08-2008, 13:17 I saw Airbourne at Corp, just for the laugh. Was quite entertaining.

I saw them at Corp and my oh is mad on them so I have heard their album so many times I am sick of it:hihi:
Personally I can not understand why they are getting so much attention when I feel they are just ripping off AC/DC if you know what I mean.
I prefer new bands to have their own sound not just copying someone else.
Rockerman 04-09-2008, 11:06 I think Airbourne are amazing
they admit their influences are AC/DC and lets face it they do that style very very very well, good on em
Looking forward to seeing them live again
Also looking forward to seeing AC/DC again (have any dates been fully confirmed yet??)
al_partridge 05-09-2008, 09:41 I read somewhere that they're going to do another tour, probably a "farewell tour", but no dates announced yet.

Yes I admit they are good at what they do but why not do a fresh sound of their own they are just getting famous really for being a younger AC/DC.
Its not just them I hate it when bands sound just like someone else.
They might as well have just been an AC/DC tribute band.

Usually i'd agree, but when its done so well I can't but help but love it...I mean you close your eyes and its the best AC/DC album in over 20 years....so who cares if its not actually AC/DC....it's about how much you enjoy the songs on their own merits...don't care if it sounds like someone else.
Sometimes people are too stuck with what 'should be' instead of what is....i mean Judas Priest replaced Rob Halford and the guy was amazing and the last album they did with him was great (but didnt do well) Halford comes back and they do a right stinker of an album and it gets rave reviews!.
Pauline BHG 07-09-2008, 11:40 Theres something about Airbourne......
I'm not really a 'DC fan, but got into them to a certain extent as the guy i was seeing on and off over the lastr few years is a HUGE DC fan. I got involved with their online community, even went to a weekend convention ! All the hardcore fans tend to agree on 1) they hate The Darkness coz they think that they *rip off* ACDC, 2) they love Airbourne, coz they think they are a fantastic replacement for their out-of-action band.
I personally prefer the Darkness and Airbourne over 'DC anyday lol !! But each to their own.......
upholder 07-09-2008, 16:39 Never been the same since Bon Scott snuffed it :(
Pauline BHG 16-10-2008, 20:36 Tickets go onsale at 10am tomorrow for a few UK AC/DC shows.
See the usual outlets - ticketmaster/seetickets etc. Shows announced for London, Manchester and Birmingham so far, in April 2009 :)
Classic Rock 18-10-2008, 00:28 I've been playing the new material down at the Moorfoot for the last 3-4 weeks. It's had a great response!
melthebell 18-10-2008, 08:13 its a great album....obviously nowhere near back in black but loads better than most of their late 80s, early 90s stuff
Pauline BHG 18-10-2008, 11:15 My mate has got me a ticket for Birmingham :o
