Hi All

Has anyone had/got one of those cat flaps that open using your cats Micro Chip. Are they any good.

I want to get some thoughts on them before I dish out £120 on one.

I considered it but for some reason the chips in my two 9m old kittens didnt confirm they would work with the petporte catflap, so I decided against it.

In the end I got the staywell infra-red 500, solid catflap and works well.

The downside is they have to wear a collar and have a relatively chunky infra-red device on their collar.

The upside is it was £40 plus £12 for an extra collar & device (I only got one with the catflap)

Plus £12 for each time they lose their collar outside....

Just got one and so far so good. If your cats microchip has 15 digits in it then it is compatible.

I've just bought one as the local cats have managed to work out how to break in through the magnetic one I've already got. Apparently these are much stronger, we'll see!! Just waiting for my nice dad to come and fit it now!
