Has anybody else seen this trailer?

It'd be interesting to see if this breathes new life into a series that's been done so 'by the book' up to now

It'll be interesting to see how this shapes up having seen 'Life on Mars'

*makes mental note to see this one*

I wouldn't mind watching it but I'll be on a course on Wednesday night. Hopefully it'll be repeated on ITV2 though.

Anything's got to be better than yet another BBC costume drama.

that's just the point alch - it's more 'life on mars' than it is 'costume drama' from what I've seen!

Yes, I'll be watching it...of course.

Although, I don't quite know what to make of the trailer.

So it's someone time travelling back to Regency Britain?

Oh, I thought it was the other way round. Not sure though.

Fab, will definitely watch it. I saw something on the front cover of the RAdio Times and did think to myself how Austen has been done to death (even though I am a huge fan). It's on this Wednesday you say?

Right...well I quite liked 'Life on Mars', but as it's a done plot...I hope it doesn't try to be too similar. I get the feeling that it may or may not work. Look forward to it, though. :)

Has anyone been watching this?

After a very shaky start, when I was about to turn the TV off and just thought to myself 'oh god, here we go, Bridget Jones all over again', it picked up when Amanda Price found herself stuck at the beginning of Pride and Prejudice. I just hope that she does not fall for Darcy who she is currently finding insufferable. She does appear to be gradually realising that her romantic notions of love and courtship of that era, seen through the eyes of a novel are unfounded.

I've been watching it ... :suspect: For someone who is supposed to have lived the novel since she was 12, she's not making a very good job of fitting in, is she? Or of making the plot come true, although I suppose the continued absence of the main love interest is a little troublesome in that endeavour ... :P

Spot on! She is also very irritating and too Bridget Jonesey with her enormous cock ups in attempting to ensure that the plot stays on track.

Me too please.

I didn't like it but I still watched it just to see what they'd done with it! So I want to know how they wrapped it all up!

Lydia elopes with Bingley. Mr B, Wickham, Darcy and Amanda go to find them. Bingley and Mr B have a fight and Mr B is badly injured. Amanda, followed by Darcy goes to fetch Lizzie who is working as an aupair in modern-day Hammersmith - cue many hilarious (OK, faintly amusing) 'Darcy in modern London' jokes. They then all return to Longbourn. Mr B gets better. Lady Catherine deB agrees to have Collins and Jane's marriage annulled. Jane and Bingley are going to marry and live in America. Lizzie doesn't much fancy Darcy and arranges to go back to Hammersmith. Amanda stays with Darcy.
Think that's it. It was a ludicrous load of old pants, but I loved it!

Blimey, so Amanda stays in Regency england with Darcy? Is she absolutely mad? How disappointing, was hoping she'd rid herself of thse fanciful notions of romantic novel as per Jane Austen and get a life! Good for Lizzie Bennett though.

Anyway - thanks for that Mrs G. How is Mr G?

I'd been hoping for a 'Life on Mars' kind of ending, so was mainly disappointed that yup, there really was a fiction/reality time travel portal in Amanda's bathroom.

Mr G is still honking, but I think taking a self-imposed holiday from the forum, I'm sure he'll be back as soon as he gets a whiff of an exciting new thread about religion/geese/big things in space etc :)
