maybe i'm a bit dense here, but what exactly IS flyball?

Flyball is a relay of 4 dogs going over 4 jumps depending on the height of the dogs and get a ball out of a flyball box and go back over the jumps and then the next dog goes until 4 dogs have completed. All our dogs are pet dogs.

Ah wow, that sounds cool. What kind of dogs are they? I only wish my dogs were intelligent enough to do something like that lol

If your dogs are into balls, it's really easy Lisa.

In our team we had everything from a small jack russell upwards. I think it helps to have a smaller dog, because am I right in thinking that they can keep the jumps low?

Oh they're too dense to even walk off-lead

If you want to pm us with your information - say a few words about the group - where held - how to contact you etc. - we could put it on the bottom of the SHEFFIELD dogs page for you.

Flyball is fantastic for burning energy of lively dogs - (great for us running after them when they don't come back too), so the more members you get - the better behaved the dogs should be.

Good luck - I know there is another one on Saturday mornings at Kiveton Park too - run by a friend of mine - they have a lot of support/members also.

As you know we met Roy at the dally fun day - Takara loved flyball! So we're looking forward to attending on the 5th.

I'm afraid she may slow your team down a bit though - she's heavier set than a border collie and can't move quite as fast! (Although she has an amazing knack of speeding up if I have liver!)

Look forward to seeing you there!

dont worry about how fast the dog is as long as you and the dog have fun not all border collies are fast they just seem to come a cross that way in our team we have spaniels, lakeland terriers, border collies and several other different types of dogs.

How much is the course?

We charge £5 per family for the training session but that entitles you to train more than one dog per family because some people have more than more than one dog and charging individually works out to expensive. in the team we have a dog trainer, also a head nurse for a vet if you need any advice or anything shes always happy to help

i would like to say that more or less any type of dog can flyball as long as the dog likes a ball you will find they will do it the last time i looked nearly every breed of dog is registered as doing flyball.

I presume it was you we were chatting to today in NP? (We had a mini Schnauzer will us). The dogs looked to be having loads of fun.

Thank you for showing us around, I'm giving it some serious thought. When are you next at NP?

Thsi sounds fun and I've seen it performed at Crufts and country shows- if the dobermutt was more sociable she'd love it- but would probably never give the tennis ball back

Lotti

I thought exactly the same about Takara, Katkin but she did great having something to focus on whilst around other dogs - so much so that she didn't show any sign of nervousness with the dogs that were on Sunday! She was loving it!

AND... she brought the ball back! (Almost every time!)

i have to admit the fastest dogs we have got were on our video on web site. You dont have to have a fast dog to do flyball because there are different divisions you can have div1 -to div 10 to suit the speed of the dogs and and we dont mind sometimes it will come as they get experience and fitness but mainly we do it for the handles to enjoy themselves with there dog.
May i add not all my dogs are fast and they still love flyball you only have to see them and you would agree
